When we submit claims online to American Home Shield, they schedule a contractor then message us to let us know someone would be calling to give us an appointment time. Within 24 hours, someone is at our location. For our air conditioning claim, the contractor sent fixed the problem the day they came. He was very professional and respectful of COVID issues. He didn't drag dirt into the house. We've had disappointments before for some of the things we have called AHS for. Their coverage is not always what we would like it to ... read more

The AC had some drainage issues and there was a lot of water on the unit. The first time that Douglas Mechanical came out, they said that they cleaned the clogging from the attic and that the water around the unit was normal. But it didn't look normal to me. The unit was working more than it should. 10 days later, it stopped cooling. So I called again and had them come out. When they came out, they said that the motor fan was burned and it triggered the power to shut off the compressor so it wouldn't burn. That was why it wa... read more

My preference with Home Shield is to talk to someone live. The online process doesn't give you enough opportunity to explain what you mean. My other complaint is they change your contract number every year. That makes no sense. Give me a number that's for two years before you change it or permanent. But they change it every year. Calling in becomes a bit of a problem. In one instance, contractors came out multiple times to fix my washer. Eventually, they trashed it and gave me money to go buy a new one. But it took six times... read more

Get American Home Shield. For the most part, the contractors have been good and the claims process is very straightforward. When my AC wasn’t cooling, they had Grasp Heating and Cooling come out and they fixed it.

When we bought the house, the furnace worked fine. They ran through the cycles of the heat pump and the cooling, and the heat worked fine. Three weeks after we were here, the cooling portion of it stopped functioning. American Home Shield sent a tech who looked at it, and then he took care of it. Then he ran it through the cycles and made sure it was heating and cooling and it was. He was super nice to my kid. He was very talkative but he kept working while he was talking. So, it was awesome.

Both of my garage doors went out and my husband submitted a claim. The guy from Number One Doors found that hurricane Sally was the reason for the doors and had to call in because American Home Shield was refusing my claim. I called them and they said we don't get a second opinion. They sent Overhead Door out and their tech lives on the Mississippi Gulf Coast as we do. I told him what had happened and he said he would call American Home Shield. He did and he testified because we did not even get rain from hurricane Sally. Th... read more

The claim went through perfectly. We submitted it and it came right on the email when the person was gonna come. They came when they said they were gonna come and said we needed a toilet. I called Home Shield that day and they said they didn't cover the toilet. We had asked the tech and he had told us that he would find out. But I said I would call them to find out too. We had to come out-of-pocket but everything else was good.

I had a leak at the base in the bathroom, and after I submitted the claim, I got a timely phone call within less than 24 hours. They let us know to schedule something and then the contractor was out when they were supposed to be and took care of what was needed. They were very friendly and professional. Everything went great. AHS has been consistent and reliable.

AHS had SNL Appliance Repair out for an appliance issue and they were excellent. I have two freezers. The first freezer was done but with the second freezer, the tech couldn't resolve it. For the first one, the tech knocked it out in 20 minutes. He fixed whatever that machine was and opened the line up. He then started work on the second one for a good 40 minutes but said he couldn't get the thing to open. It was too damaged to repair. He kept working on but eventually gave up as he didn't know what else to do. He wrote it u... read more
