We purchased the American Home Shield warranty when purchasing the house and it came in handy. Shortly after we moved in our refrigerator started leaking and American Home Shield warranty made us pay no money out of pocket for the repair. I put in for a repair that was not covered by contract. Instead of contacting to let me know AHS allowed the service provider to show up. I was now out the $75 co-pay and had to cover the full cost of repair. It would have been better to contact and advise it was not covered by contract so I could save the $75.

Foreign call centers make it difficult to understand person you are speaking to. It is taxing on patience. Also there are less and less contractors affiliated with AHS. When I joined years ago, my normal contractors were part of their service call companies. Now their only seems to be a few- ones that a majority of their work is AHS only- and they are far away and are not familiar with my home.

My husband passed away a couple of years ago, and I have been with AHS since. It’s a weight off my shoulders in knowing that if something breaks/messes up, I know who to call.

AHS has made filing for service available online. I can make my request 24/7 and it will be taken care of as soon as they get to work the next morning. I can't give a 5 because we have had a couple of times that AHS could not find a specialist that I needed for the problem in my house, but finally they allowed me to contact a specialist who would work with AHS to resolve my issue.
