I recommend to not use this company. I filed three claims and only one contractor agreed to come out to look at my air conditioner. **** other contractor said they would not deal with ****. Once on-site the contractor listed several possible causes and said he would need to do ******************. The **** person seized on the least possible cause (faulty installation, on a unit that had been working for 20 years) and denied the claim. Both of my other claims were denied in the same manner or just ignored. I canceled the serv... read more

Hello ******,Thank you for commenting about your experience. The warranty offers coverage on a range of items that fail from normal wear and tear during the contract coverage period; not all items are covered.Upon review of your four claims, I see that two were not completed, so no determination was provided. We were unable to approve the other two claims because in both cases, the failure occurred before you took possession of the home. I see that your contract has expired, however if you have any questions, please do not he... read more

They were fine for awhile until I realized they werent worth it, so I canceled them over the phone. About 2 years later after I had cancelled they sent me an email saying thanks for your payment! I was shocked to say the least. After I canceled they kept right on billing me but never sent me confirmation of payment in my email until about 2 years later! Ill probably have to cancel my credit card to get them to stop automatic billing me! Im furious & not letting this go!

Business response:

Hello *****,Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience.I have reviewed your contracts and claims and I'm happy to see that we have been able to assist with every claim you have filed (including two claims filed and approved since you stated you thought the warranty was cancelled). Additionally, our payment processing system automatically sends a payment confirmation email after each payment is processed, and renewal emails are sent out monthly for 3 months before the warranty is set to auto-renew. I also ... read more

Originally told the work was covered. After contractor confirmed the issue I described, the work was no longer covered. Buyer beware, they will take your money and your time for nothing in return.

Business response:

Hello *****,Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience; I can understand your frustration with the claim determination. The warranty offers coverage for specific items that fail from normal wear and tear; not all items are covered. Upon review of your claim, I was able to verify that when opening the claim, no approval was given. The **************** Representative explained the claims process and advised you to call ** with the contractor (so we may speak with them and obtain the diagnosis and estimate t... read more

Hello ******,Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience; I can understand your frustration with the claim determination. The warranty is in place to assist with the cost of repairing or replacing specific items that fail from normal wear and tear; not all items are covered. Further, ********* Preferred Home Warranty does not have contractors; the contractor who visited was hired by the homeowner. I see that the contractor stated that the spray arm was dislodged by a possible clog in the unit. Per the term... read more

They have taken MONTHS to process a request. This is after the fact that they wouldn't pay for even half of it. It's interesting to read in the comments below that some people are getting 3x what they paid for something and I can't even get reimbursed for 10% of what my repair cost me. They will not pay me and they do nothing to follow up and let me know that they are working on it. They go out of their way to not help, or to not pay. You would better saving your money or going with another provider.

Business response:

Hello ******, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. The warranty is in place to assist with the cost of repairing or replacing specific items that fail from normal wear and tear; not all items are covered and may not be covered 100%. Approval amounts for systems beyond manufacturers/ industry standard life expectancy are at the sole discretion of the Company. Upon review of your claim, I see that we have reached out to you multiple times over the past couple of months to obtain a corrected invoice a... read more

My 19 year old water heater stopped working. I called **** and got the go ahead to get a repairman in to check it out. He said the unit needed to be replaced. The cost for replacement and the new water heater totaled more than $2200. **** decided that they should only cover $450 and then did a "deductible" of $100. (It's not like I had to pay more than $1850 out of pocket already!) I was really shocked how little they paid for a repair. I'm seriously thinking of changing to another company because this was unacceptable. I've... read more

Previous owner purchased home warranty as selling point. I am so glad I didnt waste my money paying for this purchase. I have had several things go wrong and each time they find some excuse not to pay. From an electrical breaker to furnace issue. I called for Supervisor and was a waste of time. Basically said no exceptions. Electrical issue could have started a fire. Furnace issue is from air conditioner issue and they refuse to cover. *********************. It will only cause you more frustration.

Business response:

Hello Lori, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. I have reviewed your claims and am pleased to see that we were able to approve your full plumbing claim minus the required deductible, as well as your Air Conditioning claim. Between these two approved claims, you have received nearly 3X the cost of our standard warranty package in reimbursements, all at no cost to you as you mentioned. The warranty is in place to assist with the cost of repairing or replacing specific items that fail from normal ... read more

We have been paying extra for sprinkler system / irrigation coverage for the last 2 years. We alreayd had electrical coverage as it is included in the base warranty. When we had to file a claim yesterday because the compressor / pump has failed and the replacement is $2,000, ********* Preferred Home Warranty advised that we had no coverage. When I pointed out the fact that we had been paying extra for 2 years to be sure the irrigation system was covered, they informed me that the coverage only applies to the underground spri... read more

RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THESE FOLKS, THEY ARE STRAIGHT UP CROOKS!I have had a policy with these people since 5/18, with little to no claims during this time. The Compressor went out on my Air Conditioner, which called for replacement of my unit. The installed new unit was quoted @ $11.5K, and they wanted to give me $650 toward a new unit. Then they proceeded to tell me that the unit was older that the "standard" lifespan of this type unit, and if I read the small fine print I should have known that. My wife is recovering... read more
