The home is generally good, however, attention to personal hygiene and presentation could be better. The food always seems okay and meets the needs, staff numbers sometimes seem to be low. For the money paid, expect basic toiletries to be provided and not have to be supplied separately.
My mother has resided at The Lodge at Burcot Grange for almost a year and I cannot fault any aspect of her care. The thing that sets Burcot Lodge apart from its competitors is the fact that in addition to the care staff (who are outstanding), everyone who works at the home understands dementia. In January 2023, my mom arrived at The Lodge at Burcot Grange for respite care after she had spent four weeks in hospital followed by two weeks at home with carers - long term this was not suitable for Mom. The staff treated my wife with the utmost care and compassion. Also, the help and understanding they have shown me are without parallel.
My husband moved into Burcot Grange two years ago during Covid. My daughters and I felt safe and very anxious about the challenging change in our life. During Covid, the staff went above and beyond to help us keep in touch with my husband using online video calls and meetings in person, with PPE - masks and screens. I would recommend The Lodge at Burcot Grange to any who would leave a family member to need special care. They make the whole family very welcome. The staff are well trained and nothing is too much trouble. The management team are also very inclusive.
My mum's dementia worsened a great deal over covid and in about April we had to move her to a new care home that would meet her needs. Burcot Lodge met all her needs and more. They were so caring, so professional and I thank them deeply for making what was a truly difficult time more bearable. At the end of my mum's life, I was there with my daughter and one of the carers. Since moving to Burcot Lodge in May, my husband has received the best possible care, kindness and dignity from all the staff. The staff are always cheerful and happy, creating a lovely atmosphere. The residents have a very good activity programme and occasional trips out. The home is beautifully maintained and a pleasure to visit, and I would recommend it to anybody looking for a nursing home for their loved one.
My mother moved into Burcot Lodge about 6/7 weeks ago. Following the passing of my father who was her sole carer, my brother and I knew we had to find a suitable home for Mum, who suffers from dementia. This move required her to move from Scotland to Burcot to be nearer to me.
