Dear fellow animal lovers, I have been a client of Burnham for several years, and have had the pleasure of meeting many of the staff members. I had a very complex kitty (Thurston) that had a lot of medical issues. The staff extended his life on more than one occasion, making him comfortable and giving him qualitiy of life. Together, we designed a program that gave me options for affordable care. After appointments, I would received follow-up phone calls at home to see how he was responding to medication/treatment. When it w... read more
I have been taking our German Shepherd Savannah to Burnham Park Animal Hospital for about 10 years and the doctors and staff are truly outstanding. When she was diagnosed with malignant lymphoma last fall, we decided to put Savannah on chemotherapy since the cancer had not spread beyond her lymph nodes. I am happy to report that the treatment has been a complete success and she is in complete remission. I mention all of this because it was thanks to the care and compassion of Dr. Fox and the rest of his colleagues that we we... read more
They are certainly better than City Cat Doctor, and less expensive. My cat has had constipation problems all her life. They suggested surgery, but she is 14 years old and I didn't want to put her thru it. They were helpful with suggesting an alternative that is working just fine--one bottle of lactulose, some Miralax, and of course the ever popular SubQ fluids. They were very helpful in teaching me how to do the SubQ fluids, and it's not really expensive if you order from Drs. Foster and Smith, not who they suggest (free... read more
When my 14 1/2 year old golden retriever got sick, she chose a weekend to do it. I was new to Chicago and the closest vet referred me to find an immediate care clinic. I called BPAH which was the second closest and they said yes, bring her right in. The prognosis was not good and when the tough decision had to made, Dr. B and the entire staff did everything to make it more comfortable for both Molly and me. They gave us time alone together to say our good byes and afterward left us along together for as long as I needed ... read more
Dr Fox and the rest of the staff at Burnham Park Animal Hospital are the absolute best. I cannot say enough good things about how caring, thoughtful, and most importantly, that they provide outstanding medical care for their pet patients. When my kitty Bowie had suddenly lost a lot of weight, I was able to get an appointment with Dr Fox right away. At 5 years old, Bowie was certainly a bit young to be diagnosed with anything too serious I thought. But unfortunately, after a battery of tests and x-rays, Dr Fox diagnosed... read more
Being new to Chicago, and not knowing anyone, I relied on luck and chance to find a vet when the movers broke my puppy's leg. Luck got to me to BPAH and Dr Fox. Third day in the city and I am in tears in their waiting room, everyone is caring and friendly, so I feel better immediately! Flash forward 6 months and I am in a family crisis, and once again crying in the Vet's office.... and I hate to cry! They boarded my sweet 10 year old puppy and did some dental surgery that was needed. When I called from Texas to find out... read more
Dr. B and gang are THE best. I've taken my kitties and berners there ... every time has been a great experience and they have a great touch with our furry family members. Nothing is more comforting when they sense their stress and know how to handle the situation - all the vets and vet techs are solid, communicative, and straight-forward... no mish-moshing about what's going on and no surprises. Now, don't get me wrong, they are pricey ... but you definitely get what you pay for and they're worth every penny. For regular sh... read more
So I have to agree that sometimes I don't feel like the vet techs give my kitty the care that I would; although after dealing with hissing and (most likely) some biting animals multiple hours a day I can imagine someone may occasionally become impatient with the animals and give off an air of attitude or unfriendliness. In sum, I am ALMOST ALWAYS comfortable with any vet tech my pet gets and I have never actually had any problems with the receptionists. As others have said this vet is always good with fitting in a pet who ... read more
Phone Calls: They always answer the phone quickly and politely. They answer questions and set up appointments. They can get you in that day and are great on followup. The Office: Located on the corner, with validated garage parking and 2 free spots in the front. There are stairs to walk up, so beware if you are in a wheelchair! Large lobby room with plenty of places to sit and magazines to read. The front staff is friendly and know what they are talking about. The Vets: Completely professional and honest. They definitely ... read more
