Having moved from Indiana, I did a little research for a new vet for my cat and was disappointed when I saw some really bad reviews here for Burnham, as it's only a couple blocks from my apt. I hadn't decided where to go yet when I was pet sitting my mom's dog and he came down with a nasty bout of diarrhea for 2 days straight. When there was blood in it on the 3rd day, I freeeaked out. I was very suprised to see some of the negative comments below about this place. I have been coming here for years with my beloved pets and have always received the best care from Dr. B and Dr. Thomas. You can tell that they really are animal lovers as well as the technicians who are always so helpful and nice. The service and expertise are better than any other animal clininc in the city that I have been to. Burnham Park Animal Hospital knows you by your pet's first name. They are compassionate animal lovers that have your pet's best interest in mind. They are flexible with scheduling and they have an evening answering service that directs you to the veterinarian. I have never gone to a vet with this accommodation!! I only have great things to say about Burnham Park Animal Hospital. I originally chose them because they were very helpful over the phone. The receptionist was friendly and very patient, she answered all my questions thoroughly and in a detailed manner. Upon my arrival I was unable to find parking but the blond young man working there was kind enough to direct me where to go and that parking would be free, he was also kind enough to help me with my two cats up to the lobby! I've taken my cat to Burnham Park Animal Hospital a few times. Once, she had an allergy-caused skin irritation on her hind leg that didn't respond to steroids so they wanted to do a biopsy. We declined, and it was quoted much cheaper in Naperville. Overall, the service is fine and getting an appointment is easy, but walking in the door is kind of expensive, as are most of the services.
So after years of accumulating credit card debt, finally, I have started to be responsible. Last week I am am happy to say I paid off one in full. One down, like 110 more to go. So of course, this week, my cat gets horribly sick and I have to rush him to the hospital. Rush him to the hospital and max out my credit card again- Great. Why am I even surprised anymore? A little pricey, but I have always gotten top notch care for my dog. I credit them for saving his life after he was injured last year. I called crying a few times and they were very nice and very understanding. My beloved pooch is fine and loves his doctors at Burnham park. The receptionists have proven helpful in getting me info about vaccines and refills for our prescriptions. Thank's, Burnham Park. Woof Woof!!
Many people who I spoke to at the dog park, discouraged me from going to this vet. They all had heard horror stories but never had personal experiences. I had a death in my family and desperately needed a medical certificate for my dog ASAP. The vet got me in that day!!! In addition, I loved the doctor. I don't remember her name but she was only woman and she was phenominal. Not only was she sweet with my dog but was very knowledgable. This place is in the city, short drive from my house, and easy to get last minute appointments, which I think is great. The doctors are friendly, caring, and overall great vets. Dr. Williams is my favorite vet. However, Dr. B a great doctor as well. I only gave it 3 stars because of the price. I used to live in Los Angeles, where I took my dogs to this wonderful vet.
