Overpriced and small dishes
The food was especially good, the best I've had there over the past decades that I have patronized this restaurant. The waiters were very nice and very incompetent. They had to be told to move dirty plates when serving a new course--they had to be told to do everything practically. Fiorello's does itself a disservice in serving excellent food but hiring their wait staff off the streets.
I was disappointed in the service and the quality of the food this time. This used to be one of our favorite brunch places to come to as it was a breath of fresh air compared to some of the busy and overpriced brunch places in the area.
Fried artichokes are good. Mussels are OK but disappointing, Dont even think of ordering Lasagna; awful. Open face lasagna or whatever you want to call it. Dry lasagna pasta base with blobs of cheese, wash out tomato sauce, and something looking like meatballs. But very big. If you are so hungry that you will eat a huge amount food regardless of how it taste this is your place. Disappointing because I have been there a couple of time before and the food was very good.
Alas, one of our all-time favorite local restaurants has decidedly declined in recent years - it began to do so prior to the Pandemic, and has now even more so. Grumpy waiter seemed annoyed to be at work; never checked on us or offered a 2d glass of wine, etc. Food came out within 5" of ordering -- not making us feel relaxed or confident that it had been freshly prepared. limited menu (due to Covid?) missing many great items. Veal (milanese) i got was dry and had just a few cherry tomatoes on top - what happened to the salad that is typical for this dish? server was curt.
I have been going to Fiorello's for many, many years. I live and work in the area, and never have I had a bad night. Until this night. My family and I were out reveling in the joy of being out and being together. Happily catching up. But our entire evening was shattered by the piercing sounds of a wildly loud, out of control child (children). The entire restaurant was completely dominated by this child.
