Food was very good but the service was non existent . We were early for our reservation and so we were seated at a table by the kitchen. We were ignored by wait staff... example we were brought bread and then asked for olive oil which never appeared. The two young girls next to us received champagne on the house while we barely got water. This was a special night at the Met now ruined. Tourists beware.
Haven't eaten dinner here in quite a while and now I recall why. Noisy and crowded, with tables jammed together. The end corner at the front window, and to the right, is a nightmare, and should NOT be used to seat anyone. It's tight and awkward, and the cushion seat is uneven and uncomfortable. Good service, food was fine...expensive for what you get overall.
Always have to ask to be seated in the main dining room, because typically restaurants want to seat single women in a dark corner. I won't stand for that anymore. When I asked to be seated in the middle of the restaurant as I had requested when I made the reservation, they were not happy. But I insisted, and they complied. My family and I went here for years- like 30 years! But no more. It's gone downhill in so many ways. Service. Prices. Quality. So sad because it used to be great. It used to be our family spot. I wish they took more care in the food and service. They changed the menu and we can't stand it. We stopped going after the last visit.
Great service. They provided a quiet spot as requested. But the food was not good. I had boar ragu. Husband had meatballs and spaghetti. Very underpar. And we are not that fussy.
Tourist trap. Overpriced. Menu description is deceiving. I had the "Italian breakfast". The only thing fresh were the 3 poached eggs. On a "flatbread" is really on a "cardboard." The "salad" it comes with is a few pieces of limp greens, and the hash potatoes tasted like it came out of a vat that sits in the kitchen all day. We have been here many times before and in most cases were satisfied with the meal and service. Judging by this last meal, things have changed at Cafe Fiorello and not improved in my opinion. My wife's meal of organic chicken was partially inedible due to the dried out chicken. It might have been pre-cooked and left-over and then rewarmed. The food here is usually quite good, but it rather poor on our last visit. Hope this isn't a trend because we would not go here if it weren't for the food. The place is too crowded with the tables too close together and the noise level is excessive pre theater.
