We went out for dinner prior to going to a Broadway show. Within first five minutes, the server spills entire glass of red wine on table and breaks a soda glass on floor next to our table. Instead of immediately moving us (restaurant empty at this pt.) she sops up wine with a white napkin and then leaves the napkin open on table to cover the spill and thinks we should just sit there for the rest of our dinner! We finally move, NEVER offers to buy us a drink or dessert, doesn't fully replace my wine and proceeds to tell us ab... read more
It was my daughter's first opera and I wanted our dinner to be special. Boy did we chose the right place!!! We were welcomed graciously and the staff's humor was well received. The food was excellent. I am a vegetarian and so pleased that the vegetable soup was vegan. Chocolate and coffee afterwards was just DELICIOUS!!!
The waiter was very rude Bad service and to much noise
Been here a few times before and always enjoyed. This visit was very disappointing. I will not return. Tables were so crowded together. The back of my seat was CONTINUOUSLY being banged by passers by and servers no matter how much I pulled it in. My purse and sweater were knocked off the back off my seat twice. The temperature in the restaurant was also very uncomfortably warm. The chicken parmigiana was thick. Couldn't enjoy the pricey dinner because I was entirely preoccupied by the consistent banging into my chair. Overal... read more
Perhaps pre-election Monday was an off-day for the restaurant. We are frequent diners, and service has been going downhill rapidly. The table was set but missing some flatware (different at each place). The usual and superb prix fixe offerings had dwindled to a sorry choice. The server seemed to be working alone, and took a long time to take our order. What should have been fifteen minutes' wait tops (ordered from the antipasto offerings and one simple salad) became more than half an hour. No visit from the server to explain... read more
This place has survived forever because of its proximity to Lincoln Center. The food has never been good, but at least the service used to be efficient, getting the tourists in and out. Now everything's bad. The service is disorganized and forgetful. The food that can't even be termed Italian given the competition around the city -- it's bland fodder given Italian nicknames. And it's way overpriced given the quality.
My husband and I live in the neighborhood and were regulars for many years, going at least 2-3 times per month before/after events at Lincoln Center. Café Fiorello was our go-to place for dinner. However, recently, they renovated and removed the room divider between two separate rooms, which made the whole place more noisy. Also, the menu changed and quality of food has degraded noticeably. We ordered warm shrimp & scallop salad and it was so rubbery, tough and inedible that we had to send it back -- it tasted like it had be... read more
Slow disappointing service and mediocre food. Not worth the very expensive prices.
Used to be my favorite special occasion restaurant. will find a new restaurant. reservation seating took too long get seated. restaurant was not as busy as usual - but slow table service. quickest service was removing the dishes from the table after our meal.
