Recently moved to the area, and it was hard to choose a new vet for my dog. Of course I want the absolute best for him, and I am so thankful that I think I found it in Caring Hands! The office was clean, staff friendly, and the approach made me feel really comfortable as a new client. Having lived in seven different cities across the nation, I have learned to be picky when it comes to veterinarians. I cannot say enough good about Caring Hands Hospital in Alexandria. From the front desk to the vet assistants to the doctor herself. Kitty was nervous, yet they knew everything to do to make her ease her stress and make her comfortable. I have never had a bad experience at this location in the 5+ years I have been a client. I have been lucky to find Dr. Planeta to care for my dogs - I have no complaints whatsoever. She takes the time to explain things during visits and via phone calls, and I truly believe she loves her work and it shows in the care she has provided to my dogs throughout the many years and visits we have had. I'm revising the review because Dr Evans, who is also the practice's medical director, called to clarify the situation with me later that same day. While my original experience was still pretty terrible, it was nice to know that at least I was simply given incorrect information by the receptionist, and that they do not actually abide by that policy to require a test in exchange for heartworm medication. I recently visited Caring Hands on S. Van Dorn for the first time. I have just adopted Max, a young rescue dog, and was there for our first general checkup. I am in my seventies and have had dogs my whole life and this was the best veterinary experience I have ever had. The vet, Dr. Neuman, even got down on the floor and played with Max. Thank you, Dr. Neuman and staff.

I really do love this Veterinary office. Dr. Planeta has been our doctor since we moved here in late 2011. When I moved here I had 2 dogs & Ann has always given them the best care. She's knowledgeable in alternate treatments, as well as pharmaceuticals. Ann will give you the best advice possible for the health & happiness of your furkid. :) She sat & cried with me when I had to put my 17 year old Bichon to sleep, and was as compassionate as a family member. I have had dogs all my life and have visited many vets over the years. I have been taking my 2 dogs to Caring Hands now for at least three years. Their vet is Ann Planeta. Dr. Planeta is by far the best vet I have taken my dogs to. She properly diagnosed by dog after another doctor had misdiagnosed her. She is genuinely and incredibly caring. I've been taking my dog, Finn, here since we first got him as a puppy. They're always great with him. Also got him neutered here. Not the best prices but the care they give my dog and the fact that they always answer my (probably sometimes silly) questions is worth it!
