My Lab and I visited this location today as I am new to the area, read other positive reviews and it happens to be close to my home. From the minute we walked in, I knew this was to be our long term vet. The staff are warm and friendly and took to my girl immediately. She, in turn, loved the attention! Dr. Planeta was awesome. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the staff at Caring Hands they are beyond awesome. I took my other JRT there for all of his shots before I started taking my current JRT mix there. I started out at the Glebe Road location, but than transferred to the Van Dorn location when I learned that was where Dr. Planeta was now at. Dr. Planeta is AWESOME!!! It's like a spa for pets it's so beautiful with dark tile floors and even walls. You could almost swear it was a spa for people it is so pretty. Enjoy some water or Keurig hot beverage while you wait. You can't beat the hours they are available since they have times 7 days a week and open until 8pm during the week! I highly recommend, Dr. Planeta as your primary vet. She is AMAZING!!! I called the morning of trying to get an appointment. I was relieved that they were able to fit me in that evening. My older dog, wasn't doing well and I was very concerned about her. So I was thankful they had an appointment that evening. I did call another vet, but they did not have any appointments available. I want to update my review to state that I did receive a call the next day from Dr. Evans with a profuse apology and acknowledgement that there should have been better communication about the status of my appointment. Dr. Evans asked me to come back in that evening. When I arrived, the receptionist and vet tech echoed the apologies I had received earlier in the day. I live in Springfield and had initially started at the Arlington practice. Once the Caring Hands of Alexandria opened up I immediately started coming here. I followed Dr. Planeta, who is wonderful, but I have also now fell in love with the other doctors. One thing I really admire about the practice is their "open door policy." Basically, they want to make sure they do everything to your pet with you and they actually explain what they are doing. All of the assistants seem to truly love the animals and their job too. This vet was recommended by the shelter where we adopted our new kitty. Bonus that it's about a mile from my house! My first post-adoption appointment here was ok. Even though I arrived a little early, I still had to wait a good 15 minutes to bee seen, then another 15-20 for the vet to see our new fur child. I also didn't like being pushed to give him flea meds when he will be an indoor cat, but I understand the need. Waited over twenty minutes to be seen for a simple vaccine and that's all. Doctor came in and didn't ask if he needed a wellness exam as I just there months ago and did one apparently that cost $124 then proceed to recommend medications that they don't disclose either that they'll be over $150. A $50 vaccine day totaled to over $350 without any disclosure just tell you at the counter and expect you to pay. Never again will I come back

I work for a grooming agency where we need to verify vaccination records from time to time, however we can never get a respond from this location. No one ever answers the phone it goes straight to a recording, and no one ever calls back or responds to our voicemails. Do Better!!!
