I have a very cute, but also very challenging 2 year old corgi that I have been bringing to Caring Hands since we brought him home as a puppy. He has had a few health problems, and is a downright TERROR when we bring him in. Nonetheless, the staff always treats him with kindness and goes out of their way to make him and us comfortable. They also always make sure to remind us that this is normal, that he isn't a problem, and that they don't mind. I have been taking my furry friends to Caring Hands Animal Hospital since they opened their doggy doors in Arlington back in the late 90's. Since then, they have grown to a small conglomeration throughout NoVa while maintaining the highest standard of care, personnel, and standards. I personally love Dr. Newman who has treated and spayed/neutered my cats, my K-9 shelter rescues, and my past and current golden retriever. As most of you out there, I am assuming, that your pet is like a valued member of your family. 2 years ago my dog Pugsley underwent a major surgery and he hasn't been the same since. His surgery was done at Pender Veterinary Hospital, & I only tell you this so you can stay as far away from them as possible. Called last night and explained how my mother in laws 10 year old Pug was acting completely off and asked if there was any way we could be seen. The receptionist who answered was very kind although they were booked for the evening they were able to fit me in within an hour of calling. As I walked through the door, there was a technician, Natalia, already waiting for us to arrive and asked if it was alright to take Pugsley to the back to get vitals on him immediately. I love Caring Hands. My pets have been patients here since I moved into the area three years ago. They have been patients of both Dr. Evans and Dr. Heatherly, and I have always been pleased. Especially this past week where my pointer Captain was very sick and the VCA 24-Hour vet was incredibly unhelpful. I took Captain to Caring Hands afterwards and not only was given great advice and some action items, but Dr. Heatherly *and* a vet tech called the next day to check on him (two separate calls!). I cannot recommend more!

Update: One of my cats became suddenly ill a few months ago. Caring Hands provided excellent care, even under difficult circumstances. Dr. Planeta worked closely with me to ease my cat's suffering and try to improve her health. She gave me treatment options ranging from "ideal but expensive" to "alleviating the current issue", and let me make my choices without pressure. We had a great experience with Caring Hands. We took my two-year old Mini Aussie there a couple of weeks ago after several days of stomach upset (the strangest symptom, as far as we were concerned: he refused to drink water). I've forgotten the name of the male veterinarian we saw, but I suspect they are all equally good. He answered all of my questions (I had a few) and never seemed annoyed or in a hurry. I cannot say enough about Dr. Jennifer Heatherly, and her assistant Amber. in our time of grief over our loved pet, they helped us though a horrible and difficult experience today of putting our pet of 16 years to rest. words cannot express our thanks....
