I really do love this Veterinary office. Dr. Planeta has been our doctor since we moved here in late 2011. When I moved here I had 2 dogs & Ann has always given them the best care. She's knowledgeable in alternate treatments, as well as pharmaceuticals. Ann will give you the best advice possible for the health & happiness of your furkid. :) She sat & cried with me when I had to put my 17 year old Bichon to sleep, and was as compassionate as a family member. I have had dogs all my life and have visited many vets over the years. I have been taking my 2 dogs to Caring Hands now for at least three years. Their vet is Ann Planeta. Dr. Planeta is by far the best vet I have taken my dogs to. She properly diagnosed by dog after another doctor had misdiagnosed her. She is genuinely and incredibly caring. She does not recommend procedures that are not necessary, and knows when she needs to refer patients to specialty vets. When I lost one of my dogs to illness, Dr Planeta was genuinely... read more

I've been taking my dog, Finn, here since we first got him as a puppy. They're always great with him. Also got him neutered here. Not the best prices but the care they give my dog and the fact that they always answer my (probably sometimes silly) questions is worth it!

I have a very cute, but also very challenging 2 year old corgi that I have been bringing to Caring Hands since we brought him home as a puppy. He has had a few health problems, and is a downright TERROR when we bring him in. Nonetheless, the staff always treats him with kindness and goes out of their way to make him and us comfortable. They also always make sure to remind us that this is normal, that he isn't a problem, and that they don't mind. I have been taking my furry friends to Caring Hands Animal Hospital since they opened their doggy doors in Arlington back in the late 90's. Since then, they have grown to a small conglomeration throughout NoVa while maintaining the highest standard of care, personnel, and standards. I personally love Dr. Newman who has treated and spayed/neutered my cats, my K-9 shelter rescues, and my past and current golden retriever. As most of you out there, I am assuming, that your pet is like a valued member of your family. 2 years ago my dog Pugsley underwent a major surgery and he hasn't been the same since. His surgery was done at Pender Veterinary Hospital, & I only tell you this so you can stay as far away from them as possible. Called last night and explained how my mother in laws 10 year old Pug was acting completely off and asked if there was any way we could be seen. The receptionist who answered was very kind although they were booked for the evening they were able to fit me in within an hour of calling. As I walked through the door, there was a technician, Natalia, already waiting for us to arrive and asked if it was alright to take Pugsley to the back to get vitals on him immediately. I love Caring Hands. My pets have been patients here since I moved into the area three years ago. They have been patients of both Dr. Evans and Dr. Heatherly, and I have always been pleased. Especially this past week where my pointer Captain was very sick and the VCA 24-Hour vet was incredibly unhelpful. I took Captain to Caring Hands afterwards and not only was given great advice and some action items, but Dr. Heatherly *and* a vet tech called the next day to check on him (two separate calls!). I cannot recommend more!

Update: One of my cats became suddenly ill a few months ago. Caring Hands provided excellent care, even under difficult circumstances. Dr. Planeta worked closely with me to ease my cat's suffering and try to improve her health. She gave me treatment options ranging from "ideal but expensive" to "alleviating the current issue", and let me make my choices without pressure.
