Had a great time at Domain, when I put in service requests they were answered quickly and fixed promptly. The amenities were great and an awesome addition to my stay. The location of the property is amazing, right in the heart of downtown Oakland and next to a bunch of restaurants and super close to the BART station.

Over the past several years I've had more and more issues with the property. Specifically, the plumbing. Since 2017 my tub faucet intermittently spits out a bunch of greasy black flakes. Building management has tried to fix it several times by replacing the same "mixing valve" which never seems to help. Its been so bad that they had to resurface our bathtub, because the black stuff ruined our old one. Today I discovered smaller particles in our kitchen sinks so its likely been something thats in our food, and on our clothing... read more

I have lived at The Domain for a little over two years now, and am fortunate enough to be in a spacious, top-floor, 1-bedroom 1.5 bath loft with an outdoor balcony in building B (insulated from street noise on either side), which has air-conditioning and heat, and my office is a 3-block walk from the building - so that makes things very convenient. When I moved here, this was one of the few buildings in the area that checked the box on all of my requirements: - In-unit washer/dryer - Dishwasher - Nice looking and functional ... read more

My girlfriend and I recently moved out of domain and we had a great experience living there and with staff. In the beginning when Greystar took over it wasn't the greatest but the office people There now are friendly and easy to work with. We have no complaints and only had to move because of job relocation. It's funny to see people bash them for packages and things they can't really control. We had one package go "missing" and it was a error made from USPS can't blame office for packages. If you are looking for a good locat... read more

We moved out of Domain last year and we couldn't be happier to not have to deal with the staff any longer There are only a few positives that are worth mentioning: location is great, the common spaces have been updated, and... that's it. You won't get your full security deposit back -- they notify you they will charge a "move-in-ready" cleaning fee BEFORE they even inspect your apartment. Regardless of how clean your apartment is, they charge you (I suspect this violates CA security deposit law). I've never been charged such... read more

I've lived here close to a year, and it's been the worst apartment experience of my life. I once lived in a place in the Castro where a neighbor would have violent fights with his partner and another would get high and start loudly shrieking at 4am, and I'd still consider that a better experience overall. Starting with the positives, you can get really nice big spacious apartments at a reasonable price right now. We're in a huge loft-style apartment with an external door, which is pretty awesome. They also have in-unit was... read more

After three years at Domain, I'm happy to renew our lease for the fourth! Since moving in, the management company changed for the best. There have been so many renovations and updates, including those to the outdoor spaces that are free to use during Covid. Especially this year, Domain recognized and reacted to the market with many other new multi-family buildings being finished in the area and Covid altering the economy. It's great to be able to stay at a place with such great staff and amenities.

Like others before me, again just stating facts here so that others can make informed decisions before renting from Domain. I'll list my positives and negatives and let you make your own informed decisions. DO read all of the reviews online, as I thought when we rented here that people must have been crazy, on the surface this place looks amazing, but know that a lot of what other people are writing are very true. So I will just leave you with my own experiences. 1.) Location - The location of the building is close to downto... read more

I had the most wonderful tour experience today. The staff members specifically Desmond and Brittany were so friendly and welcoming. They really sold me on the place and made it feel like home as soon as I walked in. They were exceptional and I can't wait to move in!
