Two Stars scans slow, returned.

And yes, the Linux driver was properly installed. The XSane driver - provided by Brother on their website with detailed instructions for installation - doesn't even recognize the device is connected, though it works perfectly with a Canon flat-bed scanner.

No software upgrade or driver installation or reinstallation could get it to communicate with my computer. It's fine if you only want it to work for a couple of weeks, otherwise don't waste your money on it or any other product from this company. Pure garbage.

The color is all crazy, and it is possible to adjust the settings, but it takes many tries to get it anywhere close to the original photo's colors. I bought a Canon after this, and it scanned perfectly the first time.

All I can get it to scan are jpgs and pdfs. Nothing editable. Will probably send back. My cellphone can do this
Won't scan long receipts I'll start out with the good: This scanner has a self-starting feature which means it will pull about 1/8" of the document into the scanner in preparation for scanning. It is also USB-powered, so you only have one cable to mess with and the USB scanning speed is pretty decent. The price is also attractive. Ok, so that was the good. Now the "eh": Don't lose the CD. The software that comes on the CD is not available from the Brother web site. Sure, you can download the drivers, but the third-party stuf... read more
