One Star Can't get it to connect to my laptop. If it finally does, then I will update my review.
Not a fan The software is not that user friendly (as compared to my Epson scanner I had). The plug is in an awkward position (Why can't it be on the side? Not where the paper slides through?!?!). It scans fine, but getting to that point is difficult.
wasted a couple of hours installing drivers and tweaking settings Does not work on OSX 10.11 (El Capitan) - The Brother scanner will show up when the custom software is started, but the scanner does not register with OSX as a scanner and does not show up in the device list. So it is not compatible with any other software, wasted a couple of hours installing drivers and tweaking settings. Returning today.
One Star Didn't work properly, only scanned a few lines from a full page. Returned.
Not For Linux This scanner is not compatible with Linux! But I can't send it back as I've already played with it and ripped apart the packaging trying to get the product out of the box. Highly dissatisfied and annoyed.
Unable to get software onto computer Purchased with the hopes of scanning in old documents, but upon opening the package, discovered that it would not be possible to load the software onto my computer as I do not have a CD drive in my Mac. I poked around to see if there was any way to download the software from the Brother website, but ultimately decided to return the product. Poor scanning quality The scans are pixelated and unclear. My receipts are sometimes illegible. Business card scans are even worst. It's like it scans it and sometime typed it out on an old typewriter that's running out of ink on the ribbon. The programs that it recommends you to use it with is not good either. The BizCard captures things incorrectly and there's spelling errors all over the place. I'm better off typing up every card into excel than importing incorrect info where I have to fix one by one.
Brother scanner,..worst experience ever. Don't Buy. My Brother scanner went defective in it's first year. Brother support couldn't help,..they just kept linking me to "cleaning instructions" even though I told them I'd tried that a thousand times. Now they say the warranty is expired, even though this prob started after only a couple months! Don't buy a Brother scanner is my advice. Do not buy, unless you want to pull your hair out.
