Awoken by fire alarm that was faulty equipment. Glass shattered out of my truck during the night and belongings stolen. Toilet wouldn’t flush and the breakfast sucked. I’ll sleep in my car before staying at another Extended Stay America.

We had to evacuate Charleston due to Hurricane Dorian so our hotel options in Columbia were limited; particularly having a small dog traveling with us. We have stayed with this brand before without any issues. Typically it is a practical choice traveling with kids and a dog. Not our first choice, but hardly a Motel 6. The newly painted exterior does not prepare you for the dated and sad interior. The staff were lukewarm and not helpful. Never again The whole point of an extended stay is convenience; that being said, this place is anything but. No soap whatsoever in our room, no ice bucket, no cups, no dishes in any of the cabinets, musty smell and to top it all off, serious attitude from the front desk clerk who was barely ever at her desk. We waited to check in at 9pm, waited to ask for soap, waited to ask for ice and cups and I'm not even gonna discuss the "on-the-go" breakfast. Do not stay here.

The room was extremely loud between the AC and refrigerator it was giving the room an unpleasant vibe. To reduce the noise we had to unplug the refrigerator and deal with the AC noise. The TV had limited channels with no guide, so you’re flipping through about 20 stations, some of which are unclear, it was like the 90s using antenna service. It’s odd when booking a room at an extended stay with a kitchen, that you would have to ask for every single thing, from forks to napkins. There were very few electrical outlets in a room designed to sleep multiple adults, and definitely no usb options. Our room smelled like weed and cigarette smoke. There was a couple arguing in the lobby, physically, and the front desk clerk didn’t bat an eye. Our toilet didn’t flush properly. There were very large bugs, super sized roaches coming under the air conditioning unit.
