No drama and easy to work with staff- Ron's, Ricky's, and Valentine's service sets this place apart from other storage facilities. Moving your home is never fun and they take one less stress out of the process.

Update: 6 months later. Moved everything out of storage and into a new apartment. I showed up at the office on the 3rd of the month, and mentioned that I had moved out on the first and wanted to cancel the rental. Although I assumed I would be charged at least for a partial month, they refunded the entire month. No coaxing was required, even though they were within their rights to charge me for the whole month. Very friendly. I also appreciate the very reasonable access hours.

My opinions of Extra Space Storage are of two different strands: First, the good. The customer service here was really good, from the time I signed up for the storage locker, to the time someone tried to break in (see below), to canceling it when I no longer needed to store anything. The price was decent, though there was a $10/month insurance charge I didn't know about upfront that apparently is not optional. Now the bad. For some reason I always pictured storage places to be a place where they would rip you off, but this just was not at all the case here! I picked them because I needed a storage space really last minute and they were able to help me right away whereas the others were slow to get me in. I called them at 9am when they opened and was moving stuff in within a few hours. The service was extremely helpful and friendly. Ron, the manager, is a great guy. He was totally willing to hook me up with the first month half off and he didn't even think twice about it. He was very kind and funny throughout the rental process. The storage units themselves are clean and spacious. The lift is also very large, which made our move-in process very easy and painless even though our unit was on the second floor. reserved a space online. Went in to the office expecting who knows what after reading all the horror stories that seem to plague all the storage facilities......but it was good service. I stated that I may only stay for a single month (and the first month is free).....and they said that was OK....and that it really would be free if I left. I brought my own lock and homeowners insurance...so it was no cost to move in.

So I normally don't write reviews (yes I'm a lurker), but I just canceled my storage unit and the service was fantastic. The lady over the phone (forgot her name) told me that it would be $64 to pay of my overdue partial balance of 6 days. So I think, ok it was $220 for a whole month, but perhaps there's an overdue fee. Whatever, too early in the morning to think. I gave her my credit card number, and then she tells me that SHE thinks the charge was too high and would look it up for me. A minute later, she comes back and ... read more

Extra storage space is helpful and efficient. The storage rooms are clean and easy to access. The staff is very friendly and personable! I have already used their facilities twice and it's been a great decision!

Extra Space Storage was extremely accommodating when I had to make a cross-country move. They were very communicative and even met my movers beyond normal office hours. Ron was awesome and very helpful. They are also one of the only storage units in Berkeley to accept 18-wheeler delivery. Very happy to do business with them!
