Im not pleased. I've been a customer of First Call for many years. I have been on a monthly payment schedule for oil. My oil ran out the hight before last, they came out today to fill the empty tank. Now I still have no heat. It seems it needs to be primed, yet the tech said he doesn't know how to do this and the oil company that delivers my oil is not affiliated with First Call. He can't service me. Meanwhile my house is at 56 degrees. I pay First Call monthly. For oil!!!!! What tge heck????
Business response:
Susan, I'm so glad we were able to connect you with another technician more familiar with your oil furnace to get your heat back on. Thank you for that 5 star review for Brian. We've also relayed your frustration to First Call Oil which you now know is a completely separate company under different ownership than First Call Heating & Cooling. Again, we're sorry for your experience, and are always here to help.
We had a complicated job where we had two heating and cooling systems in our home that we needed to replace, and we wanted to with a single system. Someone from First Call came out to see the old systems and told us it couldn't be done and gave us a quote with very expensive options to replace the two systems separately. We got a 2nd opinion elsewhere and not only were they able to replace the systems with a single system, the results are excellent. For those reasons I wouldn't recommend First Call. They told us something co... read more

Renee, thank you for your feedback. We addressed this with our team so we can prevent future occurrences. We're pleased that you were able to get exactly what you desired in the end.
we had a $8000 dollar unit installed last year in july (the install team wasn't able to attend to us for a month or two). the unit blew hot air the next day. they came back and took 8 hours to say it was a bad wire. the house only gets to 76 on a 88 degree day. worse on hotter days of which there has been 25 days reaching 90 degrees. They have been back now 8 times. my dog can't be alone with a tech so either my husband or I have had to take off work. Now they say we need new ducting. That will be bery expensive. I recommen... read more
I had invited First Call to come and give me an estimate on repairs for my furnace. I knew my furnace was completely old and out of date, but I needed it repaired in a cost-effective manner at this point in my life. They immediately wanted to replace my furnace, stating that it was too old to work. But then when they gave me a quote for a new furnace, it was the same make. They are more overpriced than anybody else in Portland. I had four other estimates come out and the maximum estimate in comparison was $6000 cheaper for a... read more
Business response:
Michael, we're terribly sorry for the condition we left your furnace in. That certainly is not our expectation for ourselves. I see we have you on the schedule for a maintenance in December, so we look forward to rebuilding your trust in us. Thank you for continuing to choose First Call for you furnace needs, and we'd love to hear about your experience after the appointment.
Just got great service from First Call, for heating oil. We ordered yesterday and they delivered today! Friendly service. The driver, way cool. You can always get the latest price update by checking their website: https://www.firstcalloil.com/ First Call also provides heating oil furnace services - from oil furnace repair, installing or replacing oil furnaces, removing above ground decommissioned tanks and old furnaces. They've been open since 1939. Just took about 10 minutes to get our oil today, and that was it. Got... read more
Beware of this company - they are in the business of excessively charging for their services and still don't get the problem fixed! I called another HVAC company to come out and diagnose the problem - after 2 service calls and $1700 in charges from First Call (without telling them anything about what First Call said the system needed- including possibly a new furnace) and what do you know! It was due to a simple refrigerant leak in the exterior AC unit which was fixed and all good to go! The First Call technician told me ... read more
This company has failed to meet my expectations repeatedly. The Wi-Fi thermostat was never installed correctly and I got terrible support getting it rectified. The thermostat recently quit displaying anything. I called to get someone to help me, and they wanted to charge me multiple hundreds of dollars to just diagnose it. Absolutely terrible customer service for an existing paid customer. Do yourself a favor and never use this company.

To respond to the response of my review from Brad, I lived in Oregon for 8 years and my mother and I owned the house I lived in where the despute happened. This incident occured in 2006 but the despute was later because the rain in fall caused the short to the garage and they did the work in the early spring so during the warm months it was still working. I also didn't know the short was from the damage until after having an electrician come out and inspect it, which was a costly thing for me to do at the time so I wasn't ab... read more

We believe this review to be a mistake or a false review. Strange, according to "Keepin' It R.", this occurred years ago and all of their reviews are in California. "Years ago", we were still a company in the Portland Metro area in Oregon. Also, it seems very strange this occurred "years ago" and all of a sudden they feel the need to bash us from California, where all of their reviews are from. Paul, at our office gave his contact information but has not been contacted. There are so many inconsistencies with this story th... read more
We have had a maintenance contract with them for 5 years now. The technician who came out the last 2 years is fine, but the administrative staff are AWFUL. They have not scheduled service in a timely manner, we had to nag them. They sent out 3 invoices for the same thing - one after another - clearly unfamiliar with their contracts with their customers. Then when we advised them to review our contract - terms are payment due withing 30 days -- they just ignored it. They called me advising payment was past due, it was no... read more
