I'd rate 0 stars if I could. Our bill has always been around $180... it went up a bit due to extreme heat in Texas, we expected that. What we didn't expect was an almost $500 electric bill! To put the cherry on top, they've charged us for TRIPLE the amount of energy we've actually used. We were out of town and left the house on 77 and everything except the house cameras unplugged.. we were gone almost a month and they charged us for TRIPLE electricity when we weren't even home to use it! GEXA is horrible. Price gouging, bait n switch unethical company of thievery. They penalize customers for not paying the new portion of the current bill. Yep, you got to pay in full, then the next bill you get a late charge for not paying the new portion of the next bill. I wish we could gv zero stars. Gexa is trash... there needs to be a major lawsuit against them. I'm about to lose my deposit & find another company
DO NOT SIGN WITH THIS COMPANY! Their advertised rates Hans fine print Like you have to use exactly 1000kwh to get the advertised rates. If you use 999 or 1001 they rate doubles. When you call to change that they assure you your next bill will be at a better rate which is more than you signed up for but less than the doubled rate they charge for not hitting 1000kwh on the dot. This company is terrible. I wish I could give ZERO stars. It is no surprise that Gexa Energy has lost their accreditation with the BBB because they are ripping off their customers and not addressing the issues. When our contract ended, they began charging us $.21 per KwH. My bill for my 2100 SQFT house in July was $835. After the taxes, fees and interconnection charges, that becomes $.25 per KwH. Do not do business with this company. This company made several misleading and false statements during my conversations with them about their services. Because of this, I got stuck with a substantially higher rate. They are slow to answer the phones and no one you speak with seems to be able to resolve any problems without escalating higher and higher up the chain. I have tried for months to cancel my service and they say there’s no record of my calls. The last time I spoke with someone they said all I had to do was pay the remaining balance of $28.25, even though i cancelled and didn’t live there at the time. I was exhausted from dealing with them, so I paid the remaining and I thought it was finally over. I now just received an invoice for $2,868.13 and the bill has no details as to why I was charged this amount. Their cancellation fee is only $350.00 so where this number came from, ... read more
This is my second time in 20 years to use Gexa. I left the first time due to a massive price increase when my contract is up. Starting October 2021 I tried Gexa again because of their competitive rate. I used them through Oct 2021 to October 2022 with no issues and last summer my highest bill was less than 325 through the hottest months. HOWEVER THIS SUMMER is completely different! I signed up for the Gexa Eco Saver Plus 24. I quote, the plan states "8.8 cents at 1000 KwH". In the plan description. Reading the terms made me feel this was the plan (ie at 1000 KwH its 8.8 cents but above that is market rate). Well when I got my bill it was over 17 cents per KwH not even including all the other taxes and fees. After speaking with a representative they informed me that, yes, it was never 8.8 cents per KwH, thats just an average--not my average however--and not what they intent on charging.
