I have been to Haven several times before and had a wonderful dining experience....this WAS not the night. I ordered 3 different entrees only to be told each was sold out and then the entrée I did get was soaked in butter and other than the butter---no flavor. The Server was wonderful---spot on and timely. I will give it another try but hesitantly!
The grouper was not salted and a bit over cooked. The blueberry fried pie, normally very good, this time had raw dough in the middle. Even the truffled fries had less of the truffle flavoring (oil?).
My medium rare steak arrived medium WELL. I called their attention to it immediately. They offered cook another but I did not want to eat alone. I thought they might have done something on the price but they did not. We were hosting guest and did not want them uncomfortable or I would have "said more." . Also, 2 rib eyes were ordered but they only had one so one person switched to strip steak. Disappointing to say the least.
We enjoyed our evening at Haven. We were attracted there due to some reviews and the Sunday night specials. We were not disappointed in the food nor the ambiance, but we were disappointed in the way they priced the specials on selected wines. We were told selected wines were discounted 50% for Sunday special. When we looked at the selected wines, it was a little hard to believe they had been discounted that much. Haven has been around a long time and the food is very good. The noise level is uncomfortably loud and for that readon, my wife and I do not plan on returning
I brought my girlfriend, brother and his wife out on a Saturday night to let them experience Brookhaven. Haven is a great place that I've been about 6 times. The food was amazing as usual and the atmosphere is great. Then only problem this visit was our waiter. He was slow, unattentuce, hard to understand, and generally didn't seem to care. ...the "as is" mandate is annoyingly rigid. For instance, one guest who doesn't eat bacon asked that the swine be removed from his order, but the server insisted that the burger must be served "as is". No exceptions. Had the guest asked for a discount, I could understand, but all he asked for was that bacon not be included in his order. Sure enough, the burger arrived with the bacon on the burger. I had heard wonderful things about the food at Haven. I went there with 3 friends for a birthday celebration and while the restaurant atmosphere is really nice and the service very good, I was not too thrilled with my entree. My friends and I enjoyed the food immensely. It was good. However, the noise level was deafening. We could not talk without shouting. We could not understand our waitress when she was speaking. The tables are so close together that you can hardly get out. The women's restroom had only one toilet so the line was very long. There are many places like the Haven, for instance Murphy's, Brio, The Palm, etc. so for the same $100 for two we can go someplace else.
