FIND ANOTHER PRINTER This printer sucks. I specifically searched for a printer with an easy set up. This printer came highly recommended. However, it's been over an hour and I have yet to set up my printer, connect it to WIFI, or connect it to my computer. Once the printer goes into deep sleep, it's all over, and you cannot turn that mode off This printer has been nothing but headaches. Once it enters deep sleep, it is very difficult to get it back online again. Pressing the green "Go" button only works about 25% of the time. Restarting the printer works maybe 50% of the time. BROTHER DOES NOT INCLUDE CABLES REQUIRED TO USE THEIR PRINTER you literally cannot use the printer without the cable, and they DO NOT INCLUDE IT.
Unreliable!!! Don't buy this if your work involves deadlines!! Brother used to produce excellent, inexpensive printers. Not anymore. I've gone through two of them in the last couple of years. This one is so annoying. It falls into "Deep Sleep" mode all too quickly , which renders the machine useless. This happens way too often and if you're printing (or trying to print) documents when a deadline is looming, it's a toss-up whether you'll succeed. Do not buy for AirPrint printing. You have to powercycle the printer every time you want to print via AirPrint, even with deep sleep disabled.
No warning when toner is low The print quality and speed are fine for what I need. But I just spent 3 HOURS trying to figure out what was wrong because in the middle of a print this POS stopped working. No warning, nothing. No message "low on toner, yo". I watched youtube videos, removed the printer, reinstalled drivers, rebooted my computer. Does not copy or scan I did not know that you can't scan or copy on this machine or I would never have bought it.
The most infuriating printer to connect to wifi ever I'm on Windows 10 and a 5GHZ eero router. Could not for the life of me get the wifi to work. It just doesn't connect, and customer service/tech FAQs don't have an answer other than "reset everything." I think this printer was made for 2.4ghz connections and pre-windows 10 systems. Who is going to disconnect their computer from the 5ghz network to print?
