Great Printer when you get one that works I have purchased 4 of these over the years. Unfortunately 2 of latest printers ended up not working after 3 months of use. It's a bummer because the ones that I had before worked great especially for the price.
Some important setup details to know, also bad toner 1. It does not have an ethernet port and thus cannot be setup with wired ethernet. 2. It does not support 5 GHz WiFi. 3. If you setup WiFi directly on the printer (using buttons and small LCD screen) you can't input a SPACE character if your WiFi password happens to have SPACE character(s) in it. Tech support very bad Tech support always say the same thing. Turn on-off. Take off cartridge and restart. bla bla....
DOES NOT INCLUDE OWNERS MANUAL I hope you already know how to use this before buying because they don't include a manual and refuse to provide one.
Lousy job on envelopes Wanted this specifically to print envelopes, which the instructions say are easy to do, and what it is Bill for. Well, if you want envelopes with addresses that have streaks and shadows, then this is your printer. Then run your finger over the printed area on the envelope and the toner streaks. Now, maybe just printing on typing paper it is fine. But it was useless for envelopes. Network card died after 6 months The network card just dies in less than 6 months
Never works Tech support is terrible and the pritner is always offline despite being connected to wifi. Never reliable and always a huge headache. Do not recommend
TERRIBLE FOR HOME Pros of this printer: - text prints cleanly - doesn't trip the breaker once out of sleep mode - did the math, saves just over a penny per page compared to a similarly priced inkjet printer Why this printer is terrible: - EVERY time the printer exits sleep mode to print it trips the breaker. DO NOT PURCHASE A BROTHER PRODUCT Brother USA adverises they have "24/7/365" support for their products which leads the consumer to think you can contact Brother Support for assistance in setting up a new printer. THIS IS NOT THE CASE - the 24/7/365" support simply means you can go onto the Brother website and read about how to set up a printer - there is no support if you get stuck.
