Horrible Support Sykana Stennett I purchased a small printer as a back-up for my office When my HP went down on deadline, i turned to the new Brother. The toner quickly "ran out." I called Brother for instructions on how to override the toner out message. Technical Support staff, particularly a Sykana Stennett, refused to help me because he said my "toner was out of warranty." I explained I just bought the printer yesterday. (I was mistaken. I bought it five days ago." I have now been on the phone for 39 minutes and they are... read more
Won't stay connected How many times must I input the wifi code before it will remember it
difficult to use This is the third Brother printer I've purchased and the only one I've hated, but it's terrible enough to make me rethink ever buying this brand again. I thought the cost of refill toner cartridges (plus the new lengths the company has taken to discourage you from buying generic) would be the worst part, but Brother has really outdone itself this time. The biggest headache is that the printer slips into Deep Sleep quickly and doesn't awaken. As others have noted, the power button is purely decorative, and th... read more
You get what you pay for. I have been an advocate of Brother printers for years. I have some that have been working in my law office for more than 10 years. Sadly this wasn't going to be one of them. You get what you pay for. This is probably decent for a home office or college student. This unit could not print straight from the fold down feeder. All the checks came out very crooked. My wife told me, "It's got to go." Now she down on all printers and I'm back to 10 year old units. I should have gone for the $300 unit. Perso... read more
It died after 4 months! I really liked this printer (except for the tiny setup display), until it completely died after only 4 months of very light use. Probably not even worth the time or cost to pursue warranty service if I have to send it in.
Comes with extra cartridges for a DIFFERENT printer! Printer works fine but when I went to change out the printer cartridge I found out they don't fit!
Finally, a printer that's actually LIKABLE I have not had to replace the toner cartridge yet- if that turns out to be a problem, I will update this review. The WiFi printing feature is so convenient and it prints FAST, even from deep sleep mode. It's great when I'm cooking - much easier to print the recipe quick than try and navigate a website full of popups on my phone. I was using an HP 5150 from 2003 before - mostly because every new printer I've bought since has annoyed me. They run "out" of ink, have chips in the cartri... read more
Deep Sleep is horrible and so is support services Printer goes into sleep and deep sleep after a few minutes and does not comes out of deep sleep when you send a new print job to it, as it should. So you have to keep getting up to get the printer out of sleep before you can print the next job. Technical service is awful. There is not phone number for the U.S. and I was assisted by a company in London, who was very difficult to understand. I'm returning the printer because Brother basically does not have any support service i... read more
Worked great for a few months but then stopped working Worked great for a few months. Easy setup. Then it stopped working. I have to restart the entire printer and my devices to get it to occasionally work. It's the most time absorbing frustrating tech device I have ever owned. I am not sure what the issue is, but in all my time researching and trying to diagnose I have only been able to print 10% of the time. I don't recommend this device until they address this issue.
