Awful printer. I’ve trusted Brother printers all my life this one gave brother a really bad name. Returned and would not buy again!
Has never worked well. It either says there is ... Has never worked well. It either says there is no paper in tray (when there is) or just wont print... Very expensive for something that does not do what it's supposed to do.
I would no longer recommend this printer I would no longer recommend this printer. The software is outdate, cumbersome, and prone to random outages. Additionally, Brother has built in a number of impediments to prevent us from getting the full use of our toner cartridges.
ERROR MESSAGE AND NO LONGER WORKING IN ONLY 2 MONTHS I purchased this May 29, today is July 29 and yesterday it started with the error code "unable to print 02" I looked online how to fix this and turned it off, unplugged it and waited 30 seconds, plugged it back in and turned it back on. Still same error... it states if this doesn't fix it - find a repair dealer. There is no dealer to repair it when I search the Brother website within 200 miles. Doesn't consistently work. I have a Macbook and it will not stay connected. Bought this to HELP ME save time during grad school, but I spend MORE time trying to figure out why it will not "wake up" and why it will not print. Turned off deep sleep mode. So frustrated that I cannot get this to work, I have to constantly reboot/reconfigure my settings, and constantly call tech support. After this experience I'm not sure I can recommend the products I just got this printer today, and I've gotta say this is the most frustrating experience I have ever had installing a printer. I tried following the quick installation instructions, and the printer is complaining about its front cover being open. I searched for guides on resolving this error, and found the very 'helpful' documentation telling me that I should try closing the front cover. I also tried updating the firmware. Broken after minimal use for four months I've had this product for four months and it was great ... Until now. Replaced the toner and it was not recognized by the device. Paid a computer tech $50 for two hours and she could not fix it. She found a way to get it to print despite the error msg reading.. Replace toner. Next day I could no longer use the feature allowing double sided printing... Jammed every time. Amazon site says it is outside if the return window. What's better... This product is straight garbage. I owned another Brother printer prior to this ... DO NOT, under any circumstance buy this printer. This product is straight garbage. I owned another Brother printer prior to this but I really wanted duplex printing. I saw all the other reviews that mentioned the frustrating issues where the printer becomes unreachable but I ignored them because sometimes I am a foolish person.
