Made an appt with dermatologist for our cat's skin infection. Spent $250 to see a dermatologist who wasn't actually a dermatologist but regular veterinarian who would "consult" with outside dermatologist within 24 hours. Still haven't heard anything and the front staff (who was incredibly rude!) informed me I won't until 3 days from now. You aren't able to go into office, because of covid, but the physician "treats" your animal before even talking with you. Completely mismanaged, horribly run and terribly overpriced. Go else... read more

On 1/2/2021 we brought our beloved Bruno (11 yrs. old Beagle) because of concerns that he was hiding under our dining room table and drinking lots of water. We got there at 10:30 am, called them and was told to wait outside, that someone will come to our car to get our Bruno. 10 minutes later a nurse(?) came and got him and told us that after evaluation the doctor will call us and also she will bring paperwork for us to sign. 11:44 doctor called and said that X-rays had to be taking and also Lab. work. We gave the OK. He sai... read more

You called us 2 weeks ago asking if my dog Lola was up to date on her vaccines. We told you that you were in fact the ones that put her to sleep. Now I get a postcard from V.E.T.S. Group asking about Lolas vaccines and wanting us to bring her in. More sadness and upset! I called them and the woman who answered the phone said you give out patient information to their practice because you don't do vaccines. I guess you sold your dead patient's information, even after you were told of your error over the phone 2 weeks ago. How ... read more

Don't go here. We were there for two hours waiting and was never seen. We were told different things by different people so it was clear someone was lying. We heard we were next but we saw multiple dogs go in ahead of us. We also heard there was one doctor and another time we heard three. One of the male staff members also hung up on us.

Business response:

When bringing your pet to an animal hospital you expect that your pet  will be taken care of medically, physically and sanitarily. You expect communication and clear communication for that matter. At Long Island Veterinary Specialists I experienced a lack of communication and empathy. On top of dealing with the stress of my cat being sick, he is returned to my care covered in feces and smelling like urine. We also noticed his stomach was covered  in cuts and scraps from where his fur was shaved. Their care for my cat seemed ... read more

The incompetence of this group is truly amazing. My Chow was admitted to the hospital with a fever. After three days he was released with antibiotics and a $5000. bill. No actual diagnosis was given. He was having difficulty swallowing and we found a large lump in his neck. We took him to a real vet who diagnosed a large malignant melanoma on his tongue. I would think a physical would include checking the mouth and lymph nodes, but evidently not at this place. We found the lump in his neck and their vet did not. If you want to ... read more

We had an emergency visit with our dog yesterday after a splenic rupture that ultimately ended with the devastating decision to put our sweet boy to sleep, and I would have to say that this hospital was organized, efficient, and timely, especially given the fact that we had to stay in the parking lot throughout the ordeal due to Covid restrictions. I felt like we never had to wait excessively for anything, and things moved forward in a timely way. I would recommend their services for anyone who is facing an emergent situatio... read more

Business response:

Rose, we are so very sorry for your loss. We do understand the devastating impact this loss can have on a family and we are very saddened that your last moments with your beloved pet were not handled as gracefully as they could have been. We take your comments quite seriously and will provide the additional training necessary to ensure a less stressful encounter for the next family in your position. Thank you for your feedback.

If I could give 0 stars, I would! STAY AWAY AND GOTO VCA WESTBURY IF YOU LIVE IN NASSAU! My mom and I brought my mom's dog Saturday night at 9pm. She had symptoms of decline from yesterday afternoon, which included diarrhea, haunched back, wobbly legs, panting, and salivating. We called to check in. A vet tech, Amanda, I believe, came out to "evaluate" her and get history on her. I spoke up about the dog more than my mom, as I first noticed her not acting right. I gave my observation to the vet tech. I get replied with "oh ... read more
