We had an amazing experience with the staff. Our boy was in distress and our vet found a tumor on his spleen. We went right to Long Island Veterinary Specialists and they took him right in. They advised they would be able to remove the spleen and tumor and waited till they could stabilize him. The doctors were very patient and explained everything to us. They kept us in the loop daily on his progress and after a few days we brought him home. He's an almost 13 year Frenchie and this could have definitely ended his life if he ... read more

LIVS has been a godsend for us and our 3 year-old Labradoodle. Our dog was having trouble eating and drinking, and then he came down with severe pneumonia. Dr. Holdsworth went above and beyond to diagnose, treat, and care for our dog, including figuring out his specialized diet and keeping him in the hospital until he was fully recovered from his tricky surgery. The whole team (Lauren, Teresalyn, the ER docs, the reception staff, and many others) make our dog feel very special and loved each time we visit. Thank you!!!!

My kitty was not doing well and took a turn for the worse on a Sunday and my veterinarian office was closed. Rather than wait until Monday I took her here. Dr Adrianna Diaz examined her and went over her findings with me and she was very compassionate as I had to make a tough decision which I knew was coming. Dr. Selmer and this team comprised of Debra and Jen are beyond amazing. They gave oustanding compassionate and loving care to both my dogs, Colin and Henry. Dr. Selmer extended the quality of their life by years. When we first came to LIVS and met Dr. Selmer both dogs had issues walking and pain. Through a thorough exam and careful diagnosis we had a care plan in place that enabled my boys to live to 13 and 16 which is terrific. I brought my 8+ year old lab mix to LIVS after her vet recommended that she be evaluated by a specialist to determine why her gait had changed. She was evaluated by Dr Larkin and Dr Roynard, who patiently explained the potential causes and our treatment options. I ultimately decided to go with a referral to Dr Selmer for integrative care. My family has been coming to LIVS since before I could remember, the staff has always been absolutely amazing! They helped me threw some of my hardest moments including saying goodbye to our furry friend. Everything they do is so gentle and kind, we have seen pretty much every major department from Ophthalmology and surgery down to the emergency department and we have never been disappointed!
All good things to say about Dr. Sapienza. My kitty needed eye surgery and he did a fabulous job. She is doing very well. The reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because they were under construction and I could not go inside. Dr Sapienza came out to meet me at her consultation visit, which I greatly appreciated. Cassandra his assistant was extremely nice and really seemed to give my kitty the best care. The staff all seemed nice, but I got the feeling they are a bit overworked. LIVS has a professional and friendly staff. They are extremely responsive and almost always can see my pet even at the last minute. Dr Selmer and his team are fantastic. My 5 year old Black Lab has had stomach problems since a puppy and no one could tell me what was wrong with her or how to fix it. Instead they would just give me antibiotics to treat the symptoms when they flared up.
