Get directionsI will start off my saying the treatment was top notch. My dogs teeth were removed from a persistent infection. The job was impeccable - professional doctors and I was treated amazing. Is it cheap? No, but In life you get what you pay for ! These are surgeons and doctors that are available to us 24/7/365 and round the clock care for our pets. Thank you for fixing all our dogs over the years. Stew appreciates the care you gave him these last 48 hours and so do we.
Business response:

We were thankful for the doctor in helping us with our dog during an extremely stressful emergency. Our dog was treated with care and the veterinarian was knowledgeable. BUT Very dissatisfied with the billing procedure and policies for this establishment. There is no posting that you have to pay all up front in order to have your dog/animal looked at. It was midnight and I left my wallet at home. The only other option was a cashiers check (at midnight), we offered to pay as much as we could then come back early morning to fi... read more

Hi Eve, Thank you for your feedback. While we understand your dissatisfaction, these procedures are not uncommon with regards to emergency animal hospitals. These policies have been in place for specific reasons, however, we are sorry if that wasn't communicated to you in an effective manner. With regards to the unprofessional conversation you had with our employee, we strive to provide compassion and empathy in emergency situations, and we fell short. We will address and coach accordingly. We hope your dog is doing well a... read more
Overjoyed with the amazing results Dr. Selmer's acupuncture treatments had on my dog Georgia. She had previous surgeries on both back legs, is a large dog and now nearing 13 she was in pain while walking, laying down and had trouble getting up. Dr. Selmer explained that he used integrative medicine, combining eastern and western medicine. He also explained that acupuncture does not always work for all his patients, but it produced immediate positive results; after 1 treatment she was walking so much faster, we have seen posi... read more

I love LIVS/Dr. Sapienza,5 stars all the way. I was heartbroken when my dog Penni almost lost her eye in March of 2018. she cut her cornea on a small rock and then took her paw to rub and open the cut wider, it was two inches from her retina. I was recommended by the animal hospital in Manhattan after 6 weeks with them $ 1,000 with them for the treatment. She had a medicine treatment for 6 weeks, drops in her eye 4 times a day every week going to the doctor it look like her eye began to heal and on the same day that night... read more
My dog had surgery here and the surgical team was amazing, during and after the procedure. Dr. Waddell was communicative, fair and compassionate. The internist, Dr. Golden, recommended the surgery based on incorrect observations from an endoscopy. When my dog experienced the same issues post surgery, Dr. Golden was not in the office to help. There was no explanation given as to where she was, except that she was unreachable. (Vacation? Family emergency? Some info would've helped me understand why the dr who recommended surge... read more

Hi William, thank you for your feedback. When one of our Doctors takes time off, we respect their privacy and advise the client they are not currently available. We do have 2 other board certified internists at our facility to aid in Internal Medicine cases, but we understand why you would have liked an appointment with Dr. Golden. Thank you for your wonderful comments about Dr. Waddell and our surgery department. We hope your pet is doing well and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us as 51... read more
My beautiful Afghan Hound has since passed,(nothing to do with LIVS). We brought her to LIVS as she was throwing up blood. The people there were fine and they carried her right in. The doc we saw was very kind and I feel diagnosed her I think correctly. The problem many will face is the expense. They would not do an x ray until you paid first, then a blood count had to be done but again you pay first. They suggested they keep her overnight and have a vet look at her, about 12 hours, they wanted $1100 up front just for th... read more

Hi Robert, our sincerest condolences on the passing of your fur baby. Thank you for your kind words about our staff and Dr that took care of your dog. Since we are a specialty and 24/7 emergency hospital we have certain procedures in place and are priced higher than your general veterinarian practice. We very much appreciate your feedback and understanding of this matter. We send our love to you and your family during this difficult time.
I wish I had taken my sweet girl here first before the others. Maybe she'd still be with us. Professionalism to the nth degree. The BEST. They helped me make the decision that I couldnt make on my own.
Business response:
HI Patricia, Thank you for your review. We are so very sorry for your loss. May your sweet girl run free over the rainbow bridge.
Had an awful experience last night. It started when I made a phone call inquiring about information, including payment options and cost of treatment/exams. The woman on the line was nasty, cold, and seems like she couldn't be bothered. Unfortunately, my cats health took a turn for the worst last night. She could not breathe upon bringing her in. I believe the same woman I spoke to on the phone was at the front desk, she was wearing a bonnet. I don't know her name. She barked at me that the exam would be 150 which was fine,... read more
my kitten was transferred from VCA- great hospital- on Saturday because they thought she might need another surgery ( was septic post Spay at North Shore League- worst care ever) before Monday when they could do it. meanwhile, I get to Plainview and they say they probably can't do any surgery until Monday! that said, the full culture came back from VCA, and new antibiotics seem to be okay, so we are in a holding pattern. PROBLEM: they're go to response is "no news is good news"! they do not call regularly to report as VCA d... read more
