Don't Waste Your Money I have had positive experiences with Brother printers before. This, however, constantly jams, the print quality is usually subpar or washed out. Very unhappy with this printer.
Don't Bother with Brother - aka "The Jam Machine" I did it, don't know why I did it - bought into the cheap ink pitch I suppose. This model MFC-JXXX is unfortunately no better at scanning and copying than the earlier model I replaced. Broken after 4 months. The printer's warning system says there is a paper jam. There's no paper in it. After a lot of messing around on their website and following their suggestions on how to resolve this and a very long phone call they'll send me a refurbished one with no ink, paper tray, or power cord.
frequently requires wifi password to be re-entered even an hour after you print, your wireless devices, computers, etc will not be able to find the printer as it does not appear to save passwords. It worked fine however for the first 2 weeks.
Doesn't connect with computer It worked for my laptop (apple) in the beginning but didn't for my husband's (IBM) for awhile. Then he switched something on his computer and was able to print one paper, but none after that. Of course, that disconnected mine, and neither of us are now connected. It's a piece of junk and very difficult to configure.
Update: Does not support duplex scanning via ADF! Sad! Overall, I'm glad I decided to buy this printer. Here is what I have noticed in the 3 weeks I have had it: Pros: 1. A LOT of ink, you get toner-level capacity for half the price. 2. EASY to set up in Linux (with full functionality!) 3. Responsive (looking at you, Canon MX922) 4. No Brother support Two months after purchasing I was unable to use this printer because the monitor said there was a paper jam. I followed all the directions on clearing it but there was no paper jam. Called Amazon and support was helpful but when calling Brother there was no answer three times. I was on hold over a half an hour. I was forced to buy another printer because my business could not afford to be without a printer for so long.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. BROKE IN 2 MONTHS, SUPPORT NON-EXISTANT!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS. BROKE IN 2 MONTHS, SUPPORT NON-EXISTANT!!!! After less than 2 months of very light printing, the paper started jamming. Cleared the jam, reset the printer -- same thing.
