Computer technician worked two hours to no avail ... and couldn't get this machine to print. Downloading from disc took two hours and the thing never printed a single page. I bought the printer May 9th, and destroyed it in a rage June 5th, never having printed a page other than the alignment test. If there were a Zero-star, that's what the rating would be.
Only use "expensive" oem ink or it will ruin your printer The ink was used up incredibly fast. I replaced it with non oem ink and it plugged up the the ink jets. I replaced the bad ink with oem ink and it used up nearly the entire $20+ ink just cleaning the jets and it still won't work correctly. I use this printer very lightly and I am very disappointed.
Dont bother I've had this printer for five months. One day I went to use it and the screen displayed white and black vertical bars. The printer does not respond to buttons being pressed and wont even cooperate with a forced shut down. So now I have a useless printer that I have to keep unplugged unless I want to see the enraging display of black and white vertical lines.
Loses Wi-Fi connection Constantly loses wi-fi connection so that you must reboot it. No one seems to have a good fix for this. Choose a different printer.
Don't buy This is easily the worst printer I've ever used. For single copies it works amazing but anything more it's useless. The printer always prints the first copy great but the second paper always jams. I tried to make 30 copies one day and had to go to the printer clear it on every other page then go back to my computer and print thirty more so I could get the original 30 that I wanted. Whole process took 45 minutes. And it hasn't been a one time issue it is literally every time I have used this printer since buying it.... read more
Worst printer ever...the ink just disappears I can not understand why if you print documents in grayscale or black this machine (mfc-j895dw) uses all 3 of the other colors and before the black ink runs out you have to replace the colors even when you don't print in color...never seen that with any other printer...and if 1 color runs out the printer shuts down...and honestly I don't believe that the cartridges are really empty I can't see how they can be (didn't print that much)...just may look into an Epson comes with enough... read more
Doesn't recognize third-party ink cartridges! A set of Brother cartridges cost all most as much as the printer. I don't see me buying too many of them before I just replace the thing. I specifically looked for that information before I bought this and found nothing. Now after I've experienced the printer not recognizing third-party ink cartridges, I see other reviewers saying the same thing.
Paper jams and loss of network!!! I had to toss my first one of these because once you have a paper jam, it never, EVER recovers. I tried some other printers, but did not like them. I bought my second one, deciding to be EXTREMELY CAREFUL about paper jams. Unfortunately, it is easy to lose my internet connection. I've had to turn it all off, reset the modem, restart, reconfigure the wireless setup, ..... ad infinitum...and that usually worked, but now I've tried everything about four times and CANNOT CONNECT. Printed with lines through image from new Since the first day we had lines through our printer, amazon asked us to contact brother about a fix. brother offered a couple solutions, but non worked. We used it very lightly mostly for planning church lessons so some lines were not that big of a deal and we printed stuff at my office if I needed it to be nicer. now about a 8 months later it is non functional.
