I was a member at Mountainside for years. I switched to a less expensive gym since I didn't need childcare anymore. I still like Mountainside and my kids liked it for the basketball court.

Love Mountainside Fitness! Joined when they were the first gym in my area to open after the AZ shut down. Always clean, staff is super friendly and by far the best selection of classes and equipment.

I was really excited to join Mountain Side, and was disappointed that it was closed down only 1 week later due to Covid-19. When the reopened I was very happy to start group fitness classes, even though we would need to wear a mask. Another fitness center I belong to requires masks as well, so I had no issues with wearing a mask during my cardio class. Well if you want to catch Covid run straight to this gym because their instructors tell you that after 2 minutes of class it's O.K to just take off your mask. After inquiring ... read more

I was signed up on July 6. At that time Alexandra Richards--manager of Surprise outlet--told me that Mountainside Fitness had received special dispensation from the state governor to remain open during the quarantine. She also told me that Mountainside Fitness would let all customers know if this situation changed. It turns out that she lied--Mountainside Fitness closed the next day, though I received no message ever from them...and found out only the next morning when I drove up and the doors were locked...with a note taped... read more

Tom and his staff RULE! This awesome girl from Iowa signed me up yesterday after I walked by in FULL disbelief of an OPEN GYM. I'm EXTREMELY sad to hear this place closed! I just worked out for my FIRST time at this particular gym today. The attendees and staff were all dedicated fitness lovers like myself. I will back Tom Hatten in ANY way! (Well almost haha) but n e hoo. I'm stickin with even though I only signed up yesterday. This dude RULES!!!

I originally came to this gym for the childcare because it had been the only gym in surprise with childcare. It may be pricey compared to other gyms but there are food and drink for after you work out, along with nice clean showers and bathrooms, and an entire theater room area. The childcare is phenomenal. My kids love it because the staff creates emotional connections with the children and they always remember my kids names. The childcare has movies, a bounce house, a play ground, and a rock wall. I have mixed feelings about this gym. I used to belong, then got disgusted when Mountainside reserved several precious parking spots for people who had donated large sums of money to the gym's pet charity. I would drive to the gym looking for a parking spot, and about half a dozen spots would be empty but barricaded, because for many weeks only certain people would be allowed to park there. I recently joined Mountainside Fitness in Surprise after trying out a different gym and touring several other gyms in the vicinity. I've found Mountainside Fitness to be the best by far in cleanliness, well maintained equipment, the variety of classes, value, amenities, and great energy! The employees are exceptionally friendly and helpful (Saydi, Kristin, and Colleen to name just a few). I wish I would have seen the reviews about the sauna / steam room some time ago before joining. This is clearly a long running issue- especially the sauna. This is a crucial part of why I joined a gym. I want to go in every time after I work out. The thing is, I was shocked to see someone in there with full work out clothes, phone, shoes, everything.
