Watch out if you have Nationwide car insurance! I've been a customer for more than 40 years and missed a payment by accident. They canceled my insurance, did not provide notification that they did so (which incidentally is against the law) would not rewrite my policy, and sent notification to the State saying that my insurance was canceled a full month before it was. Travel Insurance is not worth it with this company. There are so many stipulations on paying a claim that unless the airlines goes bankrupt or there is a weather event, you don't get your claim paid. We prepaid for a hotel and then our flight was delay and we missed our connection so the hotel night couldn't be used. They denied the claim because it was pre-paid and not a weather event for the airlines. It also took them a long time to respond to my claim and I never got correspondence that they sent me. Nationwide Pet Insurance has been a nightmare. I submitted all the required documents for my dogs claim, but they claimed what I provided wasnt enough. My dog was adopted from a rescue, so theres no additional history I can give thembut they dont seem to care. To make matters worse, they denied one of my claims and took over $1,000 from me, which they refuse to refund. Nationwide underwrites travel ins for ***. *** rejects claims for frivolous reasons. Basically Nationwide keeps their reputation intact by using *** to do their dirty work I traveled with ****** *****to ******* and ***** I left three expensive shirts in the closet of my room in ******. I have been insured with Nationwide for 31 years. NO ACCIDENTS NO CLAIMS. My insurance just went up to almost 400 a month for 1 car full coverage(which I have no choice) and 1 basic. Clean driving record. It's been going up for the last year. They seem to say it's because of all the payouts they have. BUT That's not my problem. Not happy with Nationwide. Had insurance for a trip; my mom went into hospice and later passed away. Provided hospice enrollment and death certificate, but that's not enough for them. They want doctors' notes for a person who has died, which is impossible to get once a person is deceased.
Don't ever expect to get your money if you have to file a claim, let alone even a response. These guys are crooks!
