Get directionsAbsolutely the worst place. Wouldn't send my worst enemy there. Showers are disgusting. I beg you to go elsewhere. Constant loud disruptions from patients which makes it difficult to sleep or rest.
I am a person who has been in and out of hospitals due to very severe mental illness. Due to the extreme mistreatment and neglect I got from this "hospital", I acquired PTSD and will never go inpatient again. Upon arriving from another hospital, I had medical issues and was taking the drug Artane, which later caused me severe cognitive impairment and psychosis, which was overlooked and not cared about at Pacific Grove. I kept asking to see a medical doctor as I had just had a spinal fusion and had EXTREME stomach pain. I o... read more
Our experience with Pacific Grove Hospital has been terrible. My daughter was admitted to this hospital twice. She obviously suffers from mental illness and may not have been the most cooperative but was "manhandled "and put out on the street with a city bus pass. The weather was terrible and she ended up in our community hospital with hypothermia. From there she was readmitted to Pacific Grove. It was very cold. They kept the temperature so very low. She was not allowed another blanket and was not allowed a blanket from hom... read more
The place is a pit. Chaotic, unorganized, understaffed, unhygienic. The temperature was kept at 64F & everyone including staff was always cold, even when bundled up. I did not witness direct abuse but saw neglect repeatedly. To be fair, some of the staff were really trying to do their jobs but others were clueless. One aide, who was supposed to be watching an elderly patient, left her in the middle of the night to chit chat at the nurses station. The patient fell getting out of bed & split her head to the point she needed su... read more
Mental health facilities in this country should be nowhere near what I experienced, we have the infrastructure and money, and people who struggle deserve to be treated w dignity. I requested a discharge summary a year after my "recovery" there The discharge disclosed multiple psychiatric diagnoses including bipolar, borderline, PTSD, and impulse disorder. I was sent here from Loma linda after a 5150, and remained there for 5 days. In any moment was I ever seen or examined by any psychiatrist, regardless I was prescribed w m... read more
I was recently in this hospital around November 16-18. Worst experience I've ever had, scary even. The staff was rude, not much towards me, but towards other patients. They would yell at some of the elderly for no reason, maybe out of annoyance. Very unprofessional. They almost gave me someone else's medications for seizures, which I do not have and I only caught it when I asked to look at what she was giving me only to read it was under someone else's name. The night staff was usually a lot nicer. They're stingy as hell whe... read more
Edit: thank you to all who have reached out asking if our brother has been found. Sadly after 9 days of searching for him after they let him go and a missing persons report filed, we got a call from the coroner that he had past in a parking lot the day before Thanksgiving. Our family is devastated and grieving the loss of the precious soul :( If I could give this place a zero star I would!! My experience in the last five weeks has been horrendous. We put my brother-in-law there to get off of alcohol. I called just about ev... read more
Found out it was indeed Medicare fraud. If I ever get a bill from them, I'll blow the whistle on everyone involved. Including all the therapists and the people who ran each house. I haven't forgot. Run for the boarder, guys.
The hospital itself is horrible, there's absolutely no patient care. The nurses don't know what they are doing and don't care. The only people there that care is housekeeping, they are wonderful. The food is okay
