My contact person barely communicated with me and then was changed unexpectedly the week prior to closing. The new contact sent 1 email and did not respond to follow up emails. I had to ask the title company what my cash to close would be after multiple phone calls where I was disconnected /left a message with no response. I did not receive an answer until 4 hours prior to the closing which is incredibly stressful. Communication is key in this process and pennymac failed miserably.
The loan process was disappointing. I did not know until closing that I could have picked a local title company. I had a couple questions before closing for the loan officer and she never called me back. My mortgage was with Penny Mac prior to the new loan. Penny Mac had just paid my flood insurance and liability insurance for a year. The loan processors had my liability insurance and told me they would get my flood insurance fromPenny Mac. The beginning process and working with Kevin Jones was exceptional. Once the loan got transferred to Vonnye the communication became sparse and I often was left wondering about where things were at with our loan. I would have appreciated a call when new documents were needed. The automated emails are terrible and I would receive emails asking for items that had already been uploaded.

The processing agent Maranda was overall good but her support team behind the scenes was pathetic. Being a commercial real estate broker currently licensed in both California (DRE# 01382009) and Texas and having previously worked as a mortgage broker for Countrywide, this was the absolute worst experience I've ever witnessed with a mortgage company. They raised points from original quote. They charged $ 300 extra for the appraisal. They made false promises. They were clueless on all aspects.
