The entire process took far, far too long for a simple re-finance program.

It's hard to tell how much of the delay was due to Covid. I thought the process would be more seamless since PennyMac was already my loan servicer. I had to email questions b/c the m.a.c. portal wasn't up to date. At some point, I received a letter from my insurance carrier stating that the premium hadn't been paid (via escrow) and then PennyMac advised they were going to purchase insurance b/c of "my failure" to provide proof of insurance. Just more frustrating than I expected.
