Get directionsBeen seeing many posts about horrible care here and decided to speak up. My dog suddenly collapsed about some years ago, yelping in pain. I carried her in, waited for many hours, just to be told by the doc "she's being a wimp, it's a painful poop" no. She had internal bleeding and died miserably like 36 hours later. That was after pet ER had maxed out my care credit card. Eagle River VCA did a free ultra sound and some labs and confirmed the next day but it was too late for her. This place is awful. For non life threatening ... read more

Hi Stephanie, I appreciate you sharing your story, and I'm so sorry for your loss. However, it seems that this happened a long time ago and I just wanted to let you know that in recent years, the hospital has undergone a number of changes in ownership, management and staff. Many of the issues found here in the past, are just that, in the past and I hope that if you do ever need emergency services again, you'll see the difference. Thank you again for sharing.
My dog was bleeding from his penis suddenly and I brought him here. When I brought him inside I sat him down on a white towel and showed the vet how many blood stains he made in the 3 minutes he sat there. They told me he needed to be seen. Then they said I had to wait for a bit. My dog and I were sitting in my truck for almost 3 hours while he was bleeding. Never seen. I called several times and they didn't have a diaper for him or any knowledge on how much longer it would be however I noticed 3-4 cars come in and leave in ... read more
Never take your pet here. My dog was choking and had collapsed, rushed him here and he was immediately rushed into the back by the only caring nurse there. Wish I got her name, she was younger and had piercings. Thank you I am very grateful for you. What made our experience bad there was the careless front desk ladies, their was 2 of them and the actual Veterinarian doctor. They couldn't tell me if my dog had choked on anything or if he had suffered a seizure but had cleared his nose an airway an had put in a IV, saw him for... read more

Teenamarie, we understand that veterinary care can be costly, which is why we always try to accommodate our clients to the best of our ability. We offer a variety of treatment options so that you may select a less costly alternative, if possible. After reviewing your bill, you also approved bloodwork, in addition to the exam fee. Additionally, you didn't pay the full balance owed for those items and still have an outstanding balance. The bill was never $1600, that was simply an estimate presented to you, if you were to hospi... read more
Worst call experience I've ever had with a vet clinic. I was distraught about a possibly sick puppy and a tech named Laura refused to help or give me any information other than wait in the parking lot for 6 hours. I asked if it's in order of severity and she couldn't make up her mind. It's impossible to sit in a parking lot for 6 hours when a 2 week old puppy needs to eat every 2-3 hours. I asked to speak to a manager and she couldn't even help me with that. Bottom line she was not even close to sympathetic and couldn't give... read more

Hi Marie, we are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your pet's visit. We aim to provide the highest quality of care to your furry friend and are saddened that you felt otherwise. Someone from our team will be contacting you shortly.
I have never been more disappointed in a vet's office ever. We waited 8 hours and were never seen. No one ever even looked at him to triage him. All they would say is you have 2 people ahead of you and we take critical cases first. They made no effort at all during that time to let me know how it was going. After 8 hours they wouldn't even tell me a guesstimate for how much longer. I left, went home, and regrouped and got him to a different vet. He had to be euthanized because he was too far gone. Additionally he suffered fo... read more

Hi Tina, we are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your pet's visit and so very sorry for your loss. We aim to provide the highest quality of care to your furry friend and are saddened that you felt otherwise. As the only 24 hour Emergency clinic, our wait times do become increasingly long, but it looks like we needed to do a better job of communicating that to you. I appreciate you sharing your story and again, we're sorry for your loss.
I will forever regret taking my beloved cat to this place. They made Buddy and I wait 12 hours before they admitted him. They continuously told me they were receiving critical animals that needed immediate attention but I never saw anything of the sort. When they finally did see Buddy they told me I could wait some more while they ran their tests which at that point I just wanted to go home I was hungry and tired so I made a terrible decision and left Buddy there to be hospitalized. They called me less then a day later and t... read more
I understand emergency and businesses get busy. I called before leaving the house to inquire, the girl said to bring my pup and call when we got there. Great. 10 minutes later while in the parking lot I called and she said they were too busy from the night before and to call Midnight Sun. Letting me know you were too busy on the original call would've been nice to know before loading my pup into the car before hand.
It's sad to see this is the only place open 24 hours because they are worst people to deal with in an EMERGENCY. The receptionist, orange haired lady, treated us horrible after we asked a simple question before bringing our dog in. Very disappointed with our visits here. They simply have no respect for humans or pets! Try your best to avoid this place at all costs if you value good service and your dogs life, cause they clearly don't.

If I could do less than 1 star, I'd give them -5 star. Took our cat there because our vet couldn't get her in and since she was bleeding while urinating needed emergency treatment. They had 1 vet working and made us wait in the parking lot. Waited for 5 hrs and they kept putting our cat last in line as other people came in. Kept asking how much longer and they finally said "it could be up to 12 hour, we're very busy ". We as If they were ok with being sued if our cat died from no treatment. They said "you're welcome to leave... read more

Hi Tim, we're sorry to hear that you had a less than desirable experience at our clinic. Unfortunately, because we are an emergency room, we do see patients based on severity and when a number of severely critical patients come in, it does increase our wait times significantly. We try to see everything we can, as efficiently as possible, but we are currently the only 24 hour ER in the state of Alaska and due to a national staffing shortage, we only have 1 doctor working at at time. We know that regular vet appointments are h... read more
