Good cleaner, 5 year lifespan This was our third Polaris pool cleaner. We purchased this identical one five years ago. We use it at least once a week, year round and take it in the house in between uses. They seem to only have a lifespan of 5-6 years. We probably could have gotten our other one repaired for a few extra months, but the replacement cord is half the cost of a new one. We keep going back to this cleaner because it is easy to use and does a good job.
Brilliant machine, remote is iffy I had a booster motor go out in the pool that drove a Polaris 280 or 380 (not sure which) and thought seriously about getting a new motor and then getting a new pool cleaner or the same type (the one I had was quite old and not very good at its job). Then I looked into the robots and at the cost difference between both approaches. It probably cost me a few hundred more to go with the 9550, but I pulled that trigger. Expensive for what you get... This cleaner was great until it wasn't. Had to replace the cord after 2 years and the motor went out after 3 years. Looks great, but is very expensive for what you get. Definitely doesn't do stairs or small areas such as a separate spa as it tends to hang up on corners. Also, didn't like the fact that it doesn't vacuum in a pattern but goes over the pool randomly every time. Poor Product Lifespan Overall, the 9550 has worked flawlessly, reducing the amount of time spent keeping the pool clean which allows more time to enjoy owning/using the pool. Yes, the cable needs to be laid-out on the concrete nearly daily to reduce kinks, but aside from this, it proved to be a great investment, up to this week. Excellent Quality Pool Cleaner This is the best robotic pool cleaner I have ever used in over 60 years of owning a pool. You don't have to purchase multiple filters as with Hayward Tiger Shark Plus. The Polaris P9550 does it all from cleaning the pool base to walls and traps all the sediment in a micro mesh basket. It also has a button that direct the robot to climb you pool steps to allow removal from you pool with easy access to the basket to remove and wash it out. Proven Product I've used this type of unit in the past and had great success with it. Large basket for debris, notification on control unit to clean basket, home recall feature for surfacing and removal so that you don't have to pull on the cord. Its a great unit and does not have all of the techie features for activation via your phone from work or the store etc., etc... (I don't need to pay extra for features I wont use). So much better!!!!! This is my 2nd Polaris Sport and I don't know that I can ever use another brand. I've tried multiple robots that are around the $700-$900 and they just aren't the same. They don't pick up the dirt. Yes, the price hurts, but honestly I would contribute it to the screen and suction. The screen seems to hold the junk so much better and the suction not only holds the machine to the surface of the pool, but keeps the junk in the container. Unit works well and is easy to use The system to remove the unit from the pool is very handy. Also, the units removable basket is easy to clean. The only downside is that the remote control for guiding the unit in the pool does not work well. Everything else works very well.
Not very good This unit does not clean the pool very well - it works for hours and still leaved residuals. Doesn't not clean at all green algae and sediments. So far, not very helpful - need to clean the pool manually afterwords...
