I made a reservation through open table and was given a choice of seating. I chose standard seating. At 7:00 pm when it came time to sit, they told us our table was in the bar area. I told them I specifically wanted a table in the dining area, that is why I made a reservation. I was told it would be a wait for a table in the dining area. At that point we ate at the bar, instead of at a table in the bar area.
Tables are too close together I could hear my neighbors entire conversation, not to mention the wait staff's butt in your face while waiting on the other table. Food was not cooked properly my steak was too rare, my husband had to eat the middle part for me also the shells in my macaroni cheese were not cooked all the way. I did not like the way they treated you if you ask for sour cream, A1 sauce or salt and pepper. I thought when dining out it is about what the customer wants not what will "offend the cook". Seervice was poor and disappointing. it appeared as though there were only two servers to accomodate a busy dining room. The server tried but could not keep up with the demand. We ordered "before dinner" drinks and they were not ready for about 15 minutes and then I had to go to the bar and retrieve them. While we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and the food at the other venues on site, the dinner at Portico was a major disappointment. We sat at the table, which we had reserved a few weeks earlier, and it wasn't set for the proper number of people. They gave us two bread plates and two sets of silverware and there were three of us. The server doubled my bill to use the extra money for his “tip, “ even though I left a cash tip on the table. This was a month ago now, and I am still waiting for my money back. Don’t ever use your debit card to pay at this place.
Despite never being crowded and plenty of front staff, this place usually misses the mark (6th time here." I normally request a table away from kitchen and not a booth, but booked on line for two and did not mention. Got a booth, that seats four but the table is oversized for the space and, as a result the space squeezes you in and the table sits higher than normal. Greeted nicely, sat at a good table and waiter was nice and helpful. Food was delivered and tasted good. We ordered dessert and coffee and that is when it started all going downhill. Waiter had a large group come in and took to much time with them while we waited for him to get us our coffee and desert. Then when the check came I wanted to add to my room bill. This was our second time here. First time the restaurant was new and the food was great. This time we brought our family of 4 for dinner before a concert. We had 2 hours to eat so we had plenty of time. We were not served our main courses until 20 minutes until showtime. That means it took them 100 minutes to get our food out. It was not busy.
