Expensive, mediocre food, good service. Not what I would expect from such a place. Won’t go back.
While we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and the food at the other venues on site, the dinner at Portico was a major disappointment. We sat at the table, which we had reserved a few weeks earlier, and it wasn't set for the proper number of people. They gave us two bread plates and two sets of silverware and there were three of us. The server doubled my bill to use the extra money for his “tip, “ even though I left a cash tip on the table. This was a month ago now, and I am still waiting for my money back. Don’t ever use your debit card to pay at this place.
Despite never being crowded and plenty of front staff, this place usually misses the mark (6th time here." I normally request a table away from kitchen and not a booth, but booked on line for two and did not mention. Got a booth, that seats four but the table is oversized for the space and, as a result the space squeezes you in and the table sits higher than normal. Greeted nicely, sat at a good table and waiter was nice and helpful. Food was delivered and tasted good. We ordered dessert and coffee and that is when it started all going downhill. Waiter had a large group come in and took to much time with them while we waited for him to get us our coffee and desert. Then when the check came I wanted to add to my room bill. This was our second time here. First time the restaurant was new and the food was great. This time we brought our family of 4 for dinner before a concert. We had 2 hours to eat so we had plenty of time. We were not served our main courses until 20 minutes until showtime. That means it took them 100 minutes to get our food out. It was not busy. The food and service was great, the decor lovely, but we could not carry on a conversation due to the extreme noise. We were under the impression that this was fine dining, but the level of noise did not contribute to this. The room did not complement the high priced menu.
We had a 6:30 reservation for a party of four. We were promptly seated. That ends my positive comments. Ordered drinks, waited over 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Server was apologetic, said bar was behind, etc. We ordered dinner. The wait was unbelievably long. When it finally did come, 2 of the meals had to be sent back. The short ribs were COLD. The restaurant is designed beautifully however the menu and food are well below average. There are no standard dishes on the menu and many of the descriptions the use of google the figure out what the ingredients are. When we asked our our waitress about one item she had no idea what it was and said “I can find out for you”. My wife and I have been there there twice and been disappointed both times.
