Humiliating and incompetent
I am an experienced and well-funded retiree who applied for a mortgage on a principal residence in PA.
With a $150,000 annual income, $4 million in debt-free properties, and a credit score above 800, I was confident to be approved for a $240,000 loan.
After submitting 2 years of tax returns, it was immediately obvious the underwriters had no idea how to analyze them.
Admittedly, my returns are complex, with various real and financial assets with depreciation schedules, capital ... read more
Business response:
The underwriters were probably immature and lacked the skills and/or education to properly evaluate your application. That appears to be a severe problem in many business institutions in the 21st century. Your story is simply one of several that I've read or heard or experienced.
Absolutely awful customer service. When I have a check where the MICR numbers are clearly readable, but the app OR ATM doesn't accept it, it should go to a queue for review where an actual human reviews the check image. PSECU refuses to do that, and instead makes you drive in person to the branch, wasting gas, time, and mileage on your car. If you're only going to have two physical branch locations (both in Harrisburg), yet PSECU members live all over the state, at least have a review team to review these checks that get rej... read more
I applied for a refinance on my home on October 14, 2024. They made the process very convoluted and unpleasant. They would ask for documentation, and I would provide it. Then they'd find some issue with it. They couldn't use my PayPal balance because it doesn't show a running balance. They told me I needed to provide my bank statements from Carvana. I informed them that Carvana is a car dealership where I sold my car. They said they couldn't accept Word documents, so I taught them how to print to PDF. PSECU seems to be way b... read more
Used to be a great place to bank. Service has fallen off severely over the last few years. As a 30-year customer, I will be moving all assets and loans, and canceling my accounts after this last experience.
Canceled my card because they had a data breach, then had to wait 8 business days for a card to access any of my money, or be charged $40 for expedited shipping due to a mess-up on their end.
DO NOT trust PSECU. They approved me for a Classic Visa Card for $8,000, and I sent out the checks to transfer my balance. What a relief!
The check I sent to transfer the balance was declined, and they sent a letter to me (I haven't received it yet, but they said it's coming) telling me they decided to close the card. Their excuse was they received new information from my credit report. Now, you guys know if we're even on this website, we check our credit report daily. My credit rating went UP since applying and getting... read more
So, I had the account for almost 30 years. I got into a rough spot, forgot to pay $58.00, and they closed the account. I called right away, paid the money, and they stated I qualified to reopen my account. So, I did all the paperwork, waited a week. (I needed this account re-established for my direct deposit). I called them, and they said, yes you qualify, let me call someone else to reopen it. Then they got back on the phone call and stated you can reopen the account in 2025. If I had known this last week, I would have gone... read more
Extremely Disappointed with PSECU's Unjust Credit Practices
I am utterly disappointed and frustrated with PSECU's recent handling of my credit limit situation. Despite being a responsible customer who diligently managed my credit, PSECU drastically reduced my credit limit from $30,000 to $9,700 without a valid reason. This decision was supposedly based on a credit score of 637, which is starkly inaccurate as my actual score was in the 700s at the time of my last application. I provided concrete evidence, including my pr... read more
I've been with PSECU for years. Until now, it's been okay. However, today I had a nightmarish experience! I can't access my account online because their login page is frozen.
When I finally got past their robot and got a real person, a representative took all my ID and tried to help. She was unsuccessful, so she transferred me to some kind of specialist for the technical nature of their problem. He told me to put my screen in private mode, then asked to put me on a 'brief hold.' I waited and waited. Then I got the robot... read more
