Red eye Grill was in a good location for Carnegie Hall. It had a reasonable menu although some of the standard items e.g. Tiramisu, fish were unavailable which was a surprise as we were eating early at 17:45. I had a soup which was very bland and indescribable but my husband's squid was good and plentiful. For mains we had chicken and the burger both of which were average. The food came so rapidly that we'd hardly put our cutlery down before the next course arrived - far too quick. Also the serving staff seemed to be rushing... read more
Loud, poor service and mediocre food.....priced liked the opposite. In a city with plenty of steak houses this should be off the list.
If you don't have men sitting at your table don't go. The waiters only pay attention to them. Because we hadn't ordered drinks or bottles of wine (people who did were attended to beautifully) we sat for 25 minutes before we ordered and sat with dirty dishes in front of us for 20. Very disappointing - we took out of town guests for brunch. Three eggs came with one piece of dry toast, no butter or jam. Had to ask for spoons for our soup. Food was sent back because it was not warm. Won't go back.
Service was inconsistent and my wife's lobster roll tasted over cooked and a bit like freezer burn.
Rushed service. Not attentive. Would not return. Unhappy
Service was comically bad. The prices are obscene relative to average food quality. This is a 20 year old restaurant that survives solely on the basis of proximity to theater/Carnegie Hall. It needs a refresh in every way.
Our waiter looked like he was at the end of his shift and his attentiveness and manner showed it. I ordered a medium stake, it came rare. I had to send it back to be heated up more. Overall it was not worth what we paid and could have had much better service somewhere else. The live singer however, was fantastic.
Seemed like the air conditioner was broken. Very hot inside. Thought about leaving the moment we sat down. Had the $14 clam chowder bowl, which was almost inedible - cold and slightly stale, with a thick cream skin on it. The Cobb salad was better, even good - but moderate to low value at $34. Dry martini was very watery but understandable due to inside temperature of the restaurant. My business partner has to immediately send his burger back because it was cold and raw. In fairness, the situation was diffused when they gave... read more
