this worked great for our business lunch. The client had limited time, but we wanted a real choice, good service, and an atmosphere that was conducive to conversation. While disciplined myself with a tasty salad, I was able to cheat with a few french fries from a colleagues plate. Will definitely be back.
When we ordered starter and entrees we also ordered sparkling wine, spumante. After several reminders the spumante came when we almost had finished our entrees. We had sparkling water which was pored in to the glasses and then the empty bottle was left on the table. When we ordered another bottle of sparkling water, it took 15 minutes and 3 reminders before we got the water. This was our 2nd visit to Red Eye Grill and our last.
A nice nigh out in the city. Good ambiance love love music. The rib eye was great as per my date but the sushi roll app was terrible. Rice in roll was so soggy, sticky and gross, not prepared well at all. I had the tuna steak for dinner, medium rare but was closer to medium and very dry. The service was fantastic. I asked for a romantic table and the maitre'd acknowledged it...but shoved us in a corner next to the waiter station. Overall it was ok- I would not make a conscious effort to go back here with all the wonderful pl... read more
Food and service mediocre at best! Way too over priced for the experience. Much better restaurants in the area. A big disappointment!
While the atmosphere and service were fine -- nice ambiance, friendly and attentive waitstaff -- I found the food itself to be only fair for the prices charged. I ordered the salmon, and that's all I got on the plate, with the exception of two tiny pieces of parsnip or turnip. There were no other vegetables. The salmon itself was also a disappointment, not tasting as fresh as it could be, considering this is primarily a fish restaurant. My dining companion ordered oysters and clam chowder, and the soup had to be returned to ... read more
We honestly expected more. We were seated promptly, but waited too long for a glass of tap water. It took nearly 40 minutes of waiting before our waiter took our food order. And yet more time before I requested some bread for our empty table. It should not have taken over an hour before being served an appetizer. We rushed through our meal to make the show on time; luckily it was at Carnegie Hall across the street for a family show and our children were as patient as can be. Although ordered, our soup never got to our table.... read more
Went for brunch on this past Sunday and was very disappointed. Started with sour tomato juice with only limited apology. Food was mediocre. Omelet was barely warm and just didn't have great flavor. Toast was not buttered and a bit lukewarm, so butter wouldn't melt at the table. A bit expensive and yet not worth it..
The Red Eye is a beautiful place with a great location but the food does not match that. The prices are very high which I get for the area but give me my money's worth. We went for brunch this time and I ordered the crab cake eggs benndict, tiny English muffin, one tiny crab cake on one side and spinach on the other side, really? My husband ordered pastrami hash, all potatoes and four count them FOUR dice sized cubes of chewy meat. He asked for rye toast, they don't have that only whole grain, ok, his meal came no toast, he ... read more
I live in CA and met old high schools friends from Brooklyn Service was friendly, knowledgeable and didn't pressure us into leaving. Food was OK - my friend had the surf and turf kabob and the meat was very chewy, fatty and grainy. We asked the server if the lentil soup (soup of day) was spicy and he said no, however it was very spicy and my friend had to give it back -- allergic to spicy foods -- her tongue was swellng up. The cod was good and so was the NE clam chowder (which had a lot of clams and not many potatoes).
