I have been to this restaurant before but this time the noise was much louder to the point you had to yell to be heard.
Unless you have a booth or dining table you are on top of the next table. My past two visits was along the bench seatings and there was about 2 inches between the table. Not very enjoyable.
Went with the wife on our holiday trip to NYC. Was seated promptly at a table in the middle of the dining room. we decided to split a few items since we saw a number of items we wanted to try. Waitress was courteous and took our order. Wait staff however was another story. we asked for tapwater and the walked by and put the glasses on the far end of the table. when out salad came out they did not split it in the kitchen, i had to ask for another plate and split it at our table. luckily the crab we ordered came on a platter s... read more
After many wonderful meals at the Redeye Grill, this experience was a complete disaster. After waiting too long past our reservation for our table of six, we were finally seated in a back room where a large banquet table consumed the wait staff's attention and filled the room with noise. We were ignored for twenty minutes, waited another twenty minutes for the cocktails to be served, and treated generally as an after-thought. I finally had to approach the host for assistance. Poor sevice. We told waiter we needed to be in and out for a 7pm show. He told us no problem. He then disappeared for the rest of our dinner. Needless to say we were late for show. Retrieving coats was a 3 ring circus I've been to red eye several times. Don't think I'd go back any time soon
One of the four in our party did not get any bread and we had to ask twice for it. My husband got the wrong dish and had to send it back. The vegetables were missing from two of our meals. The waiter was inefficient at best. He said he would send the manager to our table but no one came. Would not go again.
We were packed in like sardines and we were probably there 20 minutes or more before the waiter took our drink order. The restaurant was loud so in order for the others at ourtable to hear we had to raise our voices. The host was on the phone and left us standing waiting and feeling awkward. Service was slow but he waiter was very friendly.
I've dined at the Redeye Grill dozens of times in the past and have always enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere but this last visit was a disappointment. The food was good but lacked excitement, the new menu was disjointed and didn't have many red wine selections in the sub $80.00 range and the service was courteous but was unfocused. We've been to Redeye many times over the years and it's always been a favorite. This time, however, was very disappointing. The food was bland and uninspiring. The new menu is much more expensive and the selection of grilled fish is very limited. The portions were small and the accompanying sides were little more than a 1/4 cup. The only positive things were the live music and our great waiter. With all the wonderful restaurants in NYC, pass on this one.
