There are so many activities to do here, they have nightly activities like, movie night and trivia, they also have sports like volley ball. The therapist Olivia is a third degree black belt so she is very disciplined but also engaged. People respect her a lot and she is very professional. Sometimes the larger groups will break out into smaller groups which makes people feel more comfortable sharing and encourages sharing in the larger groups. The clinical team here is highly trained in active listening and helping clients through their treatment planning. I have learned so many coping skills from the groups, particularly Therapist Ali runs an amazing class where she helps us solve problems and get into the solution. It's great when staff feel easy to talk to because I never had a lot of trust sharing my experiences but the other clients and staff really help to make me feel comfortable to open up. Dr. Sina will talk with you for as long as you need him to. If you have an injury he will give you so many different options. I had 3 knee surgeries and I also have lower back pain, he recommended a book to me and it was about stretching. It got me out of the mind set that I have to always throw medication at every problem. He doesn't make you jump through hoops to do the MAT program, he accommodated me and helped educate me on various options for pain management that would be conducive to my sobriety.
Most of the staff is very dedicated and some have been here since day one, the first time I came here. We took a beach trip and the tech Rosby talked with me the whole time about fishing. He cares about the clients and asks questions about what we need. Every month, we have a beach trip and the staff and clients come out to do activities and bond on the beach, its really fun and very healing to be out in nature with healthy people learning how to have a good time sober, highly recommend.
Housekeeping keeps everything tidy and neat, if I have a problem and have to put in a work order usually it's done within 30 minutes. If I have to put in a request with maintenance, its always done by the next day. They are super on the spot and dependable. Thomas in house keeping is very polite, when I first got here I had a room mate who was super messy and Thomas made sure to come back even after he was finished on the floor to make sure the room was vacuumed thoroughly. Great staff.
My doctor, Dr. Yousefi takes her time to sit and talk with me about my options and educate me on different medications. She and the whole team are very approachable. She made sure my order got put in so I did not have to wait and if I ever have any questions about my dosage, she makes the necessary adjustments. It's good to know that I can easily get information to help me understand what's going on.
The staff here is always willing to stop and talk, making sure I'm feeling alright. They give great advice. If something is wrong, the care team will make a plan to sit down and help address it. I get a ton of support from the therapists and staff. Especially TA Rachel, she is always smiling. She is very attentive and relatable. She gets us our cigarettes on time, and even though she may try to run you over with the golf cart sometimes, she's always cracking jokes and in a great mood.
The groups at River Oaks are very engaging when the therapist running class is funny and outgoing like Karah. She makes things easy and keeps it real. I've learned so many took here that I can use when I go home. Being able to relate with the staff, who are very enthusiastic, and are usually in recovery themselves, has made this process so much easier. If you want help, I would recommend coming to River Oaks, it's one of the best rehabs I've seen.
This was my first time in treatment and I had no idea what to expect. I was very nervous and initially thought I did not want to stay longer after detox. But when I started going to groups, I immediately bonded with the ladies in group and obtained a lot of helpful information from the therapists.
