I surrendered to treatment 21 days ago to start my new life in recovery. This is my 12th stay in treatment. River Oaks recovery gave me a second chance at life. I worked with a wonderful group of case workers, doctors, psychiatrists and counselors. A true rehab with dual diagnosis treatment. I've never felt so balanced. Every single time I see Geneen she stops to talk with me and asks me how I'm doing. She is very outgoing and shows that she cares. Its obvious that she loves what she does. She does everything in her power to make sure the clients have what they need. So many times I have seen her advocate for the new clients coming in who dont have any clothes because they lost everything before they got here. Eldred the TA helped me when the administration office was holding my clothes and I didn't have anything to wear. I had asked several times to retrieve my bag so I could go through it and get what I needed to no avail. Eldred stopped what he was doing and took me up to the attic along with other clients who needed to check their bags so we could get what we needed. Jason will literally bend over backwards for a client. He is always in a great mood, I have never seen him upset about anything. He is just so willing to help, you usually hear him before you see him! When I got moved from the first floor to the second floor, someone had moved my clothes and we could not find them. He came to me and helped me find my belongings before they went missing. Its the little stuff like that when people go out of their way to help it really makes a difference.
I did virtual groups while I was in isolation and that was a good experience, it was a huge plus because I have a learning disability. I was thankful to not have missed any information that was critical to me in my recovery. The worksheets helped me a lot to be able to see and process the information. It was tailored to my learning style. I was happy to know I was able to take in all the information from the instructors. There were so many that helped me while I was here. I had a great experience with every staff member. Dr. Fahs was amazing, he listened to everything I had to say and took the time to sit down with me. He helped me a great deal with my anxiety by prescribing the right medication. Every staff member that I have come across has been very helpful. I have to give TA Jason kudos to be recognized. He is not easy to forget. He always stops to talk with me and acknowledge me. I feel better than I've felt in two years. I'm standing up straight again. TA's Jason, Geneen, Adrian, Frank, Eldred, Cecil, and Iyesha always go out of their way if I need something and helped me by being very nice. My case manager Leah helped me get all my aftercare set up close to my house. I took the most out of Demitrius's classes. Lauren my therapist talked me through a lot of stuff. Nursing staff Stephanie, Glenn, and Berri are super personable. They've really handled some of the more difficult situations with grace and diffused them so I would like to commend them.
