Ta Keita was very uplifting. She would push me when I didn't want to get up out of bed and go to class. She's very compassionate and she cares about the girls. She's never MIA. I loved the groups once I started going. I started going to my therapist's groups and she would call on me to share and it helped me feel more comfortable. Stephanie on the house keeping team is awesome. That girl deserves a raise! She's so positive and she reminds me of how hard I used to work because she has so much energy and such a great heart. I love her, she always cheers me up. She has the best work ethic. And Dr. Fahs is awesome!
I went from feeling depressed to feeling happy. TA Cecil helped me with anything I needed. he was always willing to lend an extra hand or talk, he has a good heart. A lot of the TA's are like that. I liked the Phase 2 smaller groups, because after I got to know some people it was better. The gym was great. More people should know about the AA meetings at night. The TA's over night I really appreciated, they were very kind and helpful. My case manager Leah, I love her. I was so glad to meet her, she was so easy to talk to and she helped me with my process going home. Demetrius kept groups interesting and lively. My favorite thing to do was to was to help around the campus and get involved in helping out. I learned that as long as you have positive people around, it helps keep your positivity up. Stephen Spaner my case manager really helped me while I was here. I had a whole stack of FMLA paperwork that he helped take care of. Things that could have been overwhelming he made easy. Olivia and Amy my therapists really stepped up and helped care for me. I enjoyed learning a lot about my disease and learning coping skills. I did the AA/NA meetings. I decided to go to River Oaks because I knew i needed to make a change or I wouldn't be around much longer. The day before I left, I woke up in the back of an ambulance due to an overdose. I was super nervous to go and be so far from my loved ones, but it was the best decision I've ever made! From the second I was picked up from the airport, I was treated like a person. Specifically Andrea my therapist was a great help, she kept it very simple with me. I was committed from the start and aware of the change that was necessary. The night I came to my senses was a culmination of years of unhealthy behaviors that ended in a catastrophic event and I decided I was done. I made a decision to be mentally strong and get help. My case manager Stephen was on top of things and helped me get all my stuff set up for when I leave here. I learned a lot of things while I was here. They taught me how to deal with and overcome my pain. It has to process on its own in order to reach recovery instead of covering it up. That was the main reason why I came here. Amy my therapist was great. She talked with my attorneys and offered to do family therapy with my husband, and we did EMDR therapy which was really good. It helped me remember things that I couldn't remember before. She was always available for me. Leah and Kathy the nurses remembered all my meds and were always friendly and nice to me.
