Ive had a lot of good conversation here with my therapist, the staff, and my case managers. I've been able to open up and trust the staff with things like relationship issues. Adrian helped me process some things I was going through and gave me helpful advice on things I could do differently. I have learned a lot from my groups and classes and from my therapist and even the other clients here because the community is very strong and will come together when anyone needs help and is going through something. I've has a great experience so far, everyone has helped me with what I needed, it can be scary coming to treatment, but Jenn the TA made me feel ok with my current circumstances by being attentive to my needs, and being a genuinely hard worker.
Some of the therapists here are very straight forward and honest which is what I need right now. Karah the therapist doesnt always tell you what you want to hear, but she definitely tells you what you need to hear. She keeps it light with her sense of humor but always manages to get the message through. Her groups are very eye opening, she doesn't sugar coat anything and its easy to see how much she cares. The world needs more therapists like her!
Therapist Demetrius has the best groups in the whole facility! His classes are awesome because they are motivational and relatable. He keeps people engaged and he is extremely caring. I look forward to his groups every week. I wish he did more of them because I get something amazing out of every group that he does. The lesson this week is know your truth and accept reality so you can move forward and I am taking that with me!
Maurice the lab tech has great bed side manner. He is amazing at his job. You don't even feel it when he has to take a blood draw. He took us to the beach trip ad made sure we had an amazing time, he advocates for us to do cool activities like a water balloon fight and a field day. He is always excited to help and e goes above and beyond and is super friendly.
Kerwin, who goes by Ker, is a nurse that works upstairs and I think he should be commended. He always has great energy and makes sure the medication line does not get long and stacked up. he is efficient and practices common sense which is helpful when medication lines get crazy. I never have to wait for my meds when Kerwin is on shift. It makes my time here so much easier.
The medical team has been very fast and consistent. Nurse Casey is caring and approachable. She is very personable and goes above and beyond to be friendly to every one even when they are not to her. Nurse Casey is the best because she always asks me what going on, if there's anything I need to let her know. She truly wants to see me progress.
Nobody here takes themselves to seriously in the sense that they can let things go if they see the need. Like when Nurse Frank would help me out in the beginning of my stay here when I was still very physically weak and instead of forcing me or berating me to go to group, he was understanding and allowed me to get the rest that my body needed. I like that I get to be able to crack jokes with the staff. they helped me so much through my detox. I came in and I wasnt even able to laugh or smile at first, but people like Nurse Mark on my floor who have such positive attitudes and are always willing to help, helped me feel comfortable again to be able to enjoy myself and the company of others. The medical staff has been very caring in helping me through a very difficult detox.
