I called Riverside Animal Hospital yesterday afternoon after my cat George had a two and a half hour vomiting spell followed by urinating on himself. Admittedly, I was beside myself with worry but didn't know what to do as I was waiting for a potential cat sitter to come over because I am going out of town next week. Kurt managed to both calm me down and give me a late appointment so that George could be seen the same day. This enabled me to wait at home until my partner arrived and could take over interviewing the cat si... read more

I take my cat to Riverside for check ups and boarding when I am out of town. She's one of those clingy cats, and when we're home, she follows me everywhere (easy to do in a studio, but hey, she's always at my side). The staff treats her like one of their own. I always feel like she's safe and well kept. The doctor must be a cat whisperer because my cat behaves when she is in the exam room. The rates are reasonable, for Manhattan, and the hours are convenient. I guess two people had a bad experience during an emergency, but I... read more

We have been going to Riverside Animal Hospital for a couple of years with our shar-pei and beagle. Yes, it's expensive (did people forget they live in NYC?) but we feel it's worth it. They've been great with our dogs and have waived doctors visit fees if they couldn't figure out what was wrong and we needed to go to a specialist. They once literally saved our beagle puppy's life when she needed to be hydrated through an IV overnight. At that point, the bill, while high, was irrelevant. Look, real estate in NYC is expensive... read more

I can't say anything but great things about this hospital. Before they moved to their present location, they stayed open one night so that I could bring my cat in for emergency treatment. Their attention and care for my pet bought five more productive and healthy years to her life, and I'll never forget their kindness and professionalism. In their current location, they continue to have the friendliest staff; their doctors are thorough and caring. To me, any tests they recommend come from a compassion to do what's right for... read more

We absolutely love our vet, Riverside Animal Hospital. Almost eight months ago, we were in the market for a kitten, and the ASPCA was, as they said, "fresh out of kittens." I was walking along 108th on the phone with my mother, describing how I really wanted an orange kitten, when I passed by this wonderful place, where our little guy sat in the lobby with a sign that said "'adopt me." We adopted him within days, after they made sure we were qualified. Jody, the client services manager, called my reference to make sure... read more

I honestly don't understand the very mixed reviews of this vet, because I thought they are the best I've come across so far. While my husband and I were vacationing, our dog was unfortunately attacked by another while with her pet sitter. The sitter was amazing and jumped right in, taking her to Riverside. They were so wonderful with me over the phone, as I was a couple hundred miles and couldn't be there. They explained everything they did and all the meds they prescribed, and then set up a follow-up appointment. When I c... read more

Dr. Raclyn is the kindest, most honest, and most professional veterinarian I have ever known. Not only does he practice conventional medicine, your animals can also receive holistic treatment. A decade ago, he saved my cat's life, when I brought her back to him as her old "neighborhood vet," assuming that what I had been told by other vets, that she had liver disease and should be put to sleep, was correct. Within days, using Chinese herbs and acupuncture, she was eating again. My cat is now 20 years old. Recently, I took an... read more

My cat is having some health problems, and since my old vet was in Brooklyn, i wanted one closer, so brought him to Riverside Animal Hospital on 108th. They are wonderful. You can make appointments easily, they are open late one night a week, and open on Saturday and Sunday. And even if they don't have any appointments that day, they are always willing to see a sick pet. They stayed late for me so that I could bring my kitty in. I met with Dr. K (one of the partners), he is very gentle with the cats, and listened to what I... read more

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who feels that Riverside Animal has been focusing a lot on tests recently. I've been going there for about 11 years. The techs and the vets are all very very good, but I do feel like there has been a stronger emphasis on more and more tests in the last few years. And I miss their old location--it felt less high-tech and more friendly. But they were excellent when my previous cat had diabetes and hypertension, and you don't wait long for appointments, either scheduling them or once you... read more
