This bank was great when it was Suntrust. Ive been a customer since of ********************** since 2009. I keep my main checking there and have maintained a small savings account. When they moved to Truist they switched my savings account to a new type and have been charging me $7 a month in overdraft fees! I didnt choose the new account, they did and then charged me for not meeting the minimum balance. What?! I want my money back. Im closing this account and moving all my money to SoFi.

I applied for financing with Lightstream, got approved. Had no issues with them, paid for a few months, when I requested a pay off on 17th. When requesting a pay off, I had to give a date, to get exact amount to pay off. I selected the 22nd and was given an amount. I received an email with all the info showing amount and date. On 19th, lightstream submitted the withdrawal to my bank and the *** hit my bank on the 20th. I went to the bank on the 20th to make deposit only to find out my account was overdrawn. Horrible or non existent customer **********************! Its been an absolute disaster since the merger. You cannot reach anyone or talk to anybody. On hold for typically over an hour every time I try to reach them and local branch wont pick up or answer their phone either. Do not bank with them!!

I started banking with BB&T since I was 16. I have never ran into a issue with them until they merged and became Truist. I have been denied to cash my check, made to only deposit and get $100 the day of. I mistakenly went over draft and not even 5 hours later a $36 over draft fee was posted on my account when I had true intentions to deposit funds into my account the next day. I was a client of BB&T for over 25 years and never had a complaint until they merged with Truist. After that I had issues with items being paid. I eventually elected with go with a local credit union to handle my finances and close all of my Truist accounts. I personally cancelled all accounts to include the credit card I had, which I paid off, and was assured they were all cancelled on August 1st. If I could give a negative or no stars that is exactly what they would get. This company and their accounting practices fall very close to the fraudulent. If you look at your **** versus your online portal there will be 2 amounts owed. For example today, my upcoming **** is due on 8/26, however I have paid over almost every month, so it shows I owe ZERO. I was a SunTrust client for years and when TRUIST bought out or merged SunTrust and BB&T the policies this bank has are absolutely INSANE. Did you know they can charge you overdraft charges by re-arranging your purchases? Because they do. My scheduled Direct Deposit went in on Friday morning at midnight like it has for 15 + years. Never had an issue paying for anything or buying anything on that day because my balance reflects my check. Nothing but issues since day 1. Thought having an account at a bank located directly next to my office was a great plan. My account has been locked twice for fraud however I never once received any information stating this. No call, no email, no text, nothing. Had to wait until I was going to make a purchase and my card was declined odd. Spent 2.5 hours on the phone to get it corrected.
