Get directionsI went to Sierra Tucson in February 2006 for the treatment of alcoholism and spent 30 days learning about my disease. Sierra Tucson stressed keeping an open mind and treating the "whole person". For anyone who thinks Sierra Tucson is a country club - you are dead wrong. My days began at 5am and I wasn't through and in my room until after 9pm every night. Then there was homework. But I learned to hang with the winners at Sierra Tucson and that I would get as much out of my recovery as I was willing to put into it. S... read more
I attended Sierra Tucson in September of 2009. I have to admit that as a person who is alcoholic the last thing I wanted to do was receive treatment for an addiction I didn't think I had. But an unfortunate series of events led me to Sierra Tucson and I'm glad it did. Upon getting to Sierra Tucson, not only was I in denial about my alcohol addiction, but I was resentful, apathetic and frankly didn't want anything to do with recovery, counselors or sobriety. What I found at Sierra Tucson was the real me. The 30 days I ... read more
I attended ST in Spring of 2007 and it was a transformational experience. I was recommended to attend ST by my trusted and long time therapist. After reading through the positive and negative experiences in these reviews it is once again a reminder of how grateful I am for the treatment I received while there. I too was insane when I walked through the doors, it wasn't easy but I knew I was there because everything else wasn't work anymore. I eventually woke up from my "nightmare" and the fog cleared, I started to become w... read more
6 1/2 years ago I arrived at Sierra Tucson, scared apprehensive and fearful that I could never get recovery from drinking alcohol. I no longer believed in myself. My eating behaviors were a mess as well. I had been trying 12 step groups and personal therapy for a couple years and just couldn't get any sober time put together. Thankfully, I somehow had an open mind and was willing to listen and eventually open up to the love and support they offered. The therapy I received was first class and the alternative therapies were ... read more
I arrived at Sierra Tucson in April 2008 for trauma/depression/PTSD/eating disorder. At first they wanted me to go into the eating disorder program but I told them that I wanted to work on my issues and not my coping skills. Sierra Tucson respected my decision and I started my journey. The hardest part about going into rehab is walking through the doors. Sure it's a little scary at first but you make it through step by step. After checking in I was welcomed into my new therapy group and I was in the "trauma track". ... read more
During my time at Sierra Tucson, I observed significant inconsistencies in staff professionalism and care practices. The staff frequently enforced rules arbitrarily, often without explanation, and treatment of clients at times felt condescending rather than therapeutic. The BHA's are overworked and underpaid. Rule enforcement seemed to vary depending on which staff member was on duty, leading to confusion and a lack of structure. Group sessions were repetitive and mandatory, even when the topics were irrelevant to individua... read more
I was verbally assaulted by another patient and witnessed her physically assault another patient. It took two days before she was removed from the campus. I came for trauma therapy. Management never spoke to us as a group to let us know we mattered. Don't go to this place for trauma!!!
I was a patient at Sierra Tucson in 2005. I can say that my stay, and my involvement with ST's past alumni program likely saved my life. I have spent the last 20 years heavily involved with the alumni program through attending programs (retreats, workshops, ST sponsored group therapy sessions in my community and online support groups). I also volunteered a great deal of my time assisting with events and leading both in-person and online support groups. I did this because ST fostered a recovery community that was strong and r... read more
The staff treats the clients like children and some of the rules make absolutely 0 sense and their enforcement depends on which staff member is working which means some are just rude and enforce random rules they made up with 0 explanation. The groups are repetitive and even if they don't apply to you attendance is mandatory. They also love to mess with your medications even if they were working for you previously. There were multiple malpractice suits filed against Sierra Tucson in the time I was there. A resident brought i... read more
