Get directionsI attended Sierra Tucson in September of 2009. I have to admit that as a person who is alcoholic the last thing I wanted to do was receive treatment for an addiction I didn't think I had. But an unfortunate series of events led me to Sierra Tucson and I'm glad it did. Upon getting to Sierra Tucson, not only was I in denial about my alcohol addiction, but I was resentful, apathetic and frankly didn't want anything to do with recovery, counselors or sobriety. What I found at Sierra Tucson was the real me. The 30 days I ... read more
I attended ST in Spring of 2007 and it was a transformational experience. I was recommended to attend ST by my trusted and long time therapist. After reading through the positive and negative experiences in these reviews it is once again a reminder of how grateful I am for the treatment I received while there. I too was insane when I walked through the doors, it wasn't easy but I knew I was there because everything else wasn't work anymore. I eventually woke up from my "nightmare" and the fog cleared, I started to become w... read more
6 1/2 years ago I arrived at Sierra Tucson, scared apprehensive and fearful that I could never get recovery from drinking alcohol. I no longer believed in myself. My eating behaviors were a mess as well. I had been trying 12 step groups and personal therapy for a couple years and just couldn't get any sober time put together. Thankfully, I somehow had an open mind and was willing to listen and eventually open up to the love and support they offered. The therapy I received was first class and the alternative therapies were ... read more
I arrived at Sierra Tucson in April 2008 for trauma/depression/PTSD/eating disorder. At first they wanted me to go into the eating disorder program but I told them that I wanted to work on my issues and not my coping skills. Sierra Tucson respected my decision and I started my journey. The hardest part about going into rehab is walking through the doors. Sure it's a little scary at first but you make it through step by step. After checking in I was welcomed into my new therapy group and I was in the "trauma track". ... read more
I was a patient at Sierra Tucson in 2005. I can say that my stay, and my involvement with ST's past alumni program likely saved my life. I have spent the last 20 years heavily involved with the alumni program through attending programs (retreats, workshops, ST sponsored group therapy sessions in my community and online support groups). I also volunteered a great deal of my time assisting with events and leading both in-person and online support groups. I did this because ST fostered a recovery community that was strong and r... read more
The staff treats the clients like children and some of the rules make absolutely 0 sense and their enforcement depends on which staff member is working which means some are just rude and enforce random rules they made up with 0 explanation. The groups are repetitive and even if they don't apply to you attendance is mandatory. They also love to mess with your medications even if they were working for you previously. There were multiple malpractice suits filed against Sierra Tucson in the time I was there. A resident brought i... read more
The intake person lied to me over and over, telling me that the care there is Not faithbased. It's just another lie to get your ash inside their walls, where you give up some important rights. The welcome manual begins with the serenity prayer and every day, the rules state that you Will gather at a specific time and place to be counted, and you must participate in group prayer. The rules state that if you refuse to close your eyes and bow your head, you will not be counted as being here, and that there is a $250 charge... read more
This is a place where rich stressed out people go for a vacation. That's honestly my conclusion. I went to Sierra Tucson as, what felt to me, my last resort. My cptsd is ruining my life causing me mental and physical pain and I needed this place's help to get back on my feet even just a little bit. Welp! It's rated best for ptsd but I was, honestly, I was treated like crap. After being home for a bit to recoup from the trauma that occurred there I found that I wasn't the only one- Google reported that this institution has ... read more
I went to Sierra Tucson for severe depression, PTSD, among other things. My experience was mostly awful and I only ended up staying 2 days before I left. The intake process is probably the worst part, and the only part I experienced. They withheld my ADHD medication which gave me panic attacks. They blamed me, the patient, for my bad experience and tried to guilt me into staying, probably so they could make more money. A lot of the staff really does seem to care, but the specific care team I was assigned was atrocious, exce... read more
