Same day appointment, very professional, fair pricing, friendly staff, safe location, clean office and wait room, thorough car inspection and detailed report, constant text updates, quick service. I came in for a battery issue thinking that a battery replacement was necessary. Instead, Paul suggested to test the battery, found the root cause, and was able to fix the issue without a new battery. Very happy with the service.

Business response:

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the full Stress-Free experience—from the same-day appointment and friendly staff to the clean waiting area and constant updates. It’s fantastic to know that Paul took the time to diagnose the root cause of your battery issue rather than just jumping to a replacement. Saving you the cost of a new battery while fixing the issue is exactly the kind of honest, thoughtful service we aim to provide. We’re so glad you’re happy wit... read more

The service advisor listened to me and was able to take care of the primary problem for less than half of the estimate from another shop. He was knowledgeable, friendly and practical all at the same time.

I am updating my review since GMS Independent shop specializing in German autos (hence, German Motor Specialist) was taken over by a generalist "Stress-Free" Auto care, they are no longer the same indy shop I trusted. Previously I was willing to pay higher cost and drive the distance for the quality of service and personal touch of the service reps with appreciation of my old car, and deep and specialized knowledge of BMWs (they're a bit quirky. you don't know somethign trivial is very important for bimmers until you take i... read more

This is Wes, GM here at the Stress Free Auto Care Mountian View location. I am sorry to hear your experience with the call center was not a good one. It is true we are no longer an independent shop and have not been since 2019. Being part of a corporate team carries with it some standardized responses that can work across multiple locations. The remote team will not quote prices if a diagnostic is what is needed, but there is an option to call directly to the shop for any concerns. Simply select that your car is in the... read more

Not so "Stress-Free." You've got a great jingle, good reviews, and a slick booking system -- but when I talked to an agent, they kept trying to upsell me on a transmission fluid change without giving me a clear price. Then they kept me on hold for 30 minutes when I asked about matching a Groupon. I ended up going to Oil Changers instead -- they gave me a straight quote up front and were $100 cheaper. If you call yourself "Stress-Free," don't make me stress more.

Business response:

Thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear about your experience. We aim to make every interaction as stress-free as our name suggests, but it sounds like we fell short here. We’re addressing the issues to ensure clearer communication and faster service. What can we do to make this right? Please reach out to us directly so we can discuss your experience and offer a solution. We appreciate your honesty and hope to serve you better in the future.

The worst My car was the first one there at 8am They called me at 3:36pm saying my car was ready . They weren't able to detect the problem with my car . They did however give me a $4000-$5000 quote for what my car needed . After requesting just an oil change , they held off for two hours because I didn't confirm through text . Over all waste of time , money and I was better off going elsewhere

Business response:

Dianna, this is Wes, GM here at Stress Free Auto Care Mountain View. Thank you for the feedback as it gives us insight on where we can improve our service. I am sorry your experience here was not a positive one. Reviewing the work order I see the car came in for a diagnostic for road noise. After several test drives, including on the freeway, my technician was not able to reproduce the noise complaint as you stated it. There were no repairs recommended for this complaint as we could not recommend a repair with certainty... read more

Coordinated an appointment for 11am, showed up 10 minutes early, for a model x, with n2itive rear control/toe arms, which they said they can do. They neither were able to fit me in nor could they guarantee they could do an alignment to spec. First time trying a "Stress free auto care" and will be my last. Try to avoid this unless you like to have "stress" for a fee. Response to Wes' comment below that the shop replied that they couldn't fit me in before I arrived. The yelp message they sent me at 9am said they could accomm... read more

Hi Jon, this is Wes, GM here at Stress Free Auto Care Mountain View. Thank you for the feedback, it helps us to identify where we can improve our services going forward. I am sorry the shop could not accommodate you when you arrived for service but checking the communication form the remote team through YELP I see that you were told we would not be able to fit that service in before you arrived. When you did arrive on site, David, the employee checking you in, tried to flex to get that service done for you anyway. It ... read more

Took my 2016 Honda Civic for an A/C that wasn't working and was initially quoted for $99 A/C special over the phone after I told them the make, year and model of my car. When I went to the shop they quoted me ~$530 for A/C recharge (with a 15% off repair Costco auto coupon), saying that the special does not cover my car's type of A/C. If they found any other issues that need fixing it wasn't included and they would let know how much it would cost. Not knowing what it A/C recharges cost at other places, I went along and gave ... read more

Business response:

I am sorry your experience here was not a positive one. I thank you for the feedback as it helps us identify areas where we need to improve. I apologize for the confusion in pricing. Stress Free Auto Care is currently running a AC recharge promotion at $99. That only applies to cars that take the most common type of refrigerant, R134A. Some vehicles, like yours, take the newer R1234y refrigerant which requires a completely different AC machine to perform that service. You will find that is a much more expensive service... read more

THEY WILL UP-SELL YOU EXPENSIVE WORK at exorbitant prices and mislead you about work needed. I took my Q5 in for an oil change and paid $65 to have the brakes inspected because they were making a bit of noise in the mornings. They said the min pad spacing is 3mm and so pads and rotors need replacing. They also took a picture of "leaking rear shocks" and said they need replacing. They quoted me THOUSANDS so I ended up doing this work myself (I work on vintage cars and am pretty decent with a wrench). The rear shocks costed ... read more
